Thankfully the companies themselves have a modicum of empathy and the transition to EVs is a tacit acknowledgment of the nuisance that this is. Alternatively I can ask them to move their base of operations under your window if you're agreeable. — James on Nosy Neighbor: Are the idling trucks on White legal?
You nailed it James!!! — JS Miller on Seen & Heard: Math festival on Saturday
I like Lekka Burger's approach. I wish all restaurants would do that and I lean towards frequenting those that do. You can always leave more, but it makes up for tourists who sometimes don't have tipping in their own countries, so don't do it (I remember as a young waitress getting pocket change from Europeans in the Village when I was young). Once schools are back like Pace and NYU, etc., the staffing issues should ease, though. — Ann on Local restaurants struggle with staffing issues
TR house is a gem. Has a Latin quote at entrance. His Nobel Peace Prize is displayed (Russian Japan war). The grounds are terrific views, reminded me a bit of the other Roosevelts upstate Hyde Park off Hudson. Don't rem the town too much. Rocky Point out past SUNY is kinda of a find too. Small but rocky terrain. — Frank Graham on Field Trip: Oyster Bay, Long Island
Also, for the restaurants that grew from a dozen tables indoors to fifty extra outdoors within months, I imagine staffing could be a problem? — R. on Local restaurants struggle with staffing issues
Those numbers are incorrect. You are excluding the $300 extra payment from the NY number and including it in the others. NY has one of the highest in the country. — Good neighbor on Local restaurants struggle with staffing issues

"Neighbors and Community Board 1 were not psyched about the added ferry traffic at the BPC ferry dock when this first came up in 2019." Its really sad to hear neighbors complain about added ferry service. Ill say it again, go move to the suburbs if you dont want people getting on and off transit near where you live, or sit in traffic. CB1 should be thrilled that residents can now get uptown by one more means besides a car. — PATRICK on New ferry route will get to Midtown in 17 minutes

UI isn't great, but you leave out part of the story: -Regular UI duration extended during the pandemic -Federal Pandemic Unemployment Compensation (added on top of regular UI) of $300 per week since December 2020 and $600 per week before that. -No federal taxes on the first $10,200 of unemployment benefits (if you earned less than $150,000 as an individual in 2020) — James on Local restaurants struggle with staffing issues
Square Diner? — James on Where in Tribeca?
"Generous unemployment"? LOL. The maximum regular UI in NY State is $504. Massachusetts is $855. Minnesota is $762, NJ at $713. Montana pays more at $552. NY UI has always been a joke. — mruptight on Local restaurants struggle with staffing issues
