  • ^^^^ Look who showed! Dr Jeanne Moore. — Kim on Nosy Neighbor: Are dogs allowed in Liberty Park?

  • This hotel has been a HORRIBLE neighbor already. Air horns and sawing start at 7 AM - ON SATURDAYS! - and I get home tonight to more sawing, concrete trucks, and construction crew whistling and yelling AFTER 9 PM (they do have a permit from 6-9PM today and tomorrow.) I simply cannot imagine what they will be like once they're open! Completely disrespectful of all of us and local laws. — ANGRY NEIGHBOR on Firmdale to operate 86 Warren hotel

  • S The Tour which started in 1977 has had to adapt to a changing city. The start line area originally was pretty much non residential as was the industrial waterfront of Queens and Brooklyn-now look at Dumbo. The organizers work hard to minimize inconvenience to residents but acknowledge they do exist. The talks with local community boards are done in good faith, in an effort to get along with our fellow New Yorkers. I would add that this event occurs one day a year-imagine the disruptions for folks that live along 5th Ave. I will add that the logistics of running a 30,000+ person event on bicycles are quite complicated and the idea of starting at Battery Park on the surface make sense but keep in mind the line of cyclists waiting to start the tour stretches from the start line almost all the way down to Battery Park. Only a few thousand of the 30,000 come over from Staten Island in the morning. The Tour is a world class event that fellow residents as well as visitors from all over the world come to NYC to ride in. Lastly the funds raised support the free classes that Bike New York provides in the 5 Boroughs, mostly in economically disadvantaged and underserved communities. — Diamond on Seen & Heard: Five Boro Bike Tour on Sunday

  • One more thing, could you put a link to the list of field trips on the menu on the left hands side of the site under 'Arts & Culture...etc.? — Robert on Field Trip: Paddle the Bronx River

  • These field trips are a really great idea and can encourage the 'faint-hearted' to venture out to parts of the city they may not otherwise have explored. This is such a great city to explore and there are so many great 'hidden' places which are wonderful and not adjacent to Times Square. As a Big Apple Greeter I always encourage tourists to go to places which they don't find in the main-stream guidebooks and these field trips form a great inventory of things to do for those who have longer stays in NYC. — Robert on Field Trip: Paddle the Bronx River

  • Thanks for your kind words. I actually went to the stage to thank them & acknowledge their efforts. I think they feared I was there to complain so they seemed quite surprised & relieved to receive my thanks. I believe we can co-exist & I’m glad they’ve found a way to run the tour without jolting us out of bed at 6:45 on Sunday. That said, I still think it makes more sense to start it near Battery Park, especially since they tell folks to park in Staten Island & come over on the ferry. Thanks for passing on my experience to your friend. — S on Seen & Heard: Five Boro Bike Tour on Sunday

  • @S: It's nice to see you credit Bike NY's (somewhat) quieter 5-Boro Bike Tour startup today. I've passed on your compliments to one of the organizers, a friend, and he was pleased that your fears weren't realized and that you said as much. Graciousness is in short supply these days, but not on your part. Nice. — Komanoff on Seen & Heard: Five Boro Bike Tour on Sunday

  • I’m happy to report that they only had 4 speakers on the block leading up to the stage (plus the ones on the stage itself). None on the other blocks. That’s what they agreed to in 2019. (I still feel for those living on that block.) So they have proven that they can run this safely without blasting music on the 5+ streets leading up to the start. Safety was one of their arguments for the need for blocks of speakers. Yes, it was smaller this year but 20,000 bikers is still a lot. Thanks, Bike NYC for keeping your promise to the neighbors of Tribeca. — S on Seen & Heard: Five Boro Bike Tour on Sunday

  • Chase, 407 Broadway, between Lispenard & Walker has them. — Robert Ripps on In the News: Art in General will close here after 34 years

  • So far, I have not seen any posters about 5 Boro Bike Tour. No information of who to contact if their music is too loud. Those were part of the agreements they had with CB1 in 2019 after years of complaints. Hopefully, they will be better neighbors this year. Time will tell. — S on Seen & Heard: Five Boro Bike Tour on Sunday

  • This is wonderful news to read. I worked for the organization for a few years leading up to acquiring that essential kickstarting naming gift from Mr. Perelman. Sadly, all the original staff who worked so hard to get things moving back then have moved on to other projects, but it should always be acknowledged how much Maggie Boepple and David Langford contributed to nurturing this project in its early days, as well as Lucy Sexton, Jenny Gersten, and David Lan. — PB on The Perelman PAC has topped out and interior construction has begun

  • You can look at the data yourself for the percentage if you think mine is off; it is of course changing. The percentage is of eligible residents, which is ages 12 and over. — Tribeca Citizen on The latest covid tallies

  • I thought I had read earlier in the summer that the vaccination rate was over 90% for Tribeca/BPC....hard to understand these numbers if they are not specifying the age range. — urban cowgirl on The latest covid tallies

  • We attended the Duane Park event tonight and thoroughly enjoyed the band “None the Wiser.” What a talented group of musicians! Their Tom Petty covers, in particular, were superb. I could not find a website for the band, Would the Friends of Duane Park be willing to let us know how to get on the band’s email list? Thank you. — SW on Seen & Heard: Tribeca rocks Duane Park

  • There used to be 3 branches in walking distance downtown (City Hall area), including a very large branch on Broadway by Wall Street. Then they moved across the street to a smaller branch, then I think moved to the next block. There used to be one across from City Hall Park (the worst branch!). You could get there at 8:30 when they open, and still wait 15 minutes for a teller. My mother got a letter from them about the change but in Queens there is no Citizen Bank. She's closing her accounts. — Sherri Rosen on In the News: Art in General will close here after 34 years

  • I remember after 9/11, Tribeca was a ghost town because nobody was going down there and businesses closed, but thanks to new restaurants, stores, residential buildings that were built, day care places and the Tribeca Film Festival, Tribeca became a great neighborhood again. That is until the landlords got greedy and businesses went out - AGAIN! — Sherri Rosen on A Uno will move after 20 years on Duane
