If you read the Tribeca Trib police blotter, there are regular reports of people putting thousands of dollars of (usually) cosmetics and toiletries in a bag and walking out. I can’t image how they can carry enough to add up to that, but it seems to be a regular occurrence. — Hudson River on Nosy Neighbor: Why are there police cars and officers stationed at Target
While their prices are expensive, shopping at Whole Foods is not really larceny. :-) — James on Nosy Neighbor: Why are there police cars and officers stationed at Target
So sad to hear. Andrew helped me rent and buy in Tribeca over the years. He always took a moment to say hello if he saw me walking by the Tabak office on Reade. Another big loss for Tribeca. — alee on Andrew Melnick, a Tabak broker who had deep roots in Tribeca, dies at 65
Sad loss of another good man — Lewis Gross on Andrew Melnick, a Tabak broker who had deep roots in Tribeca, dies at 65
lots of robberies in Target. A homeless woman even walked in naked last month. That is the reason. — Native on Nosy Neighbor: Why are there police cars and officers stationed at Target
Unless the landlord has the legal alternative of covering all or part of the windows in brown kraft paper or keeping the space entirely empty and tidy, I do not see how this program passes constitutional muster on First Amendment grounds, where the state or its designated agents must approve the "art" being posted or the landlord is fined. — james on The Anatomy of a Block: Chambers between Broadway and Church
All the facade work is permitted at 325 Greenwich Street. I see no recent DOB filings for any alterations for any first floor business. You would think that with electronic filing, the applications would show up immediately even if they are awaiting plan examination. Sounds fishy. — james on Seen & Heard: Free Shakespeare at The Battery
Southampton’s mayor passed a law requiring landlords of vacant storefronts to display art. A ways of making unused space an asset instead of a blight. Would love it (especially in art-centric Tribeca) if landlords would do this without a mayoral decree! https://www.wsj.com/articles/hamptons-village-requires-empty-storefronts-to-display-art-11611507601 — Mike on The Anatomy of a Block: Chambers between Broadway and Church
I fully support this expansion and wish them the best. I only hope they can do something about the acoustics un that space. It was impossible to have a conversation in The Greek even though the food was great. — JS MIller on Estancia 460 will expand next door with a more casual bar
Thank you, James...I'll pass that on to our management. — Marcus on The Anatomy of a Block: Chambers between Broadway and Church

Came out of the barbershop next it this morning and the Clementine doors were opened and it looked like work started/was about to begin. — paul on Cafe Clementine finds a new Tribeca home on Greenwich and Duane
I checked in at the end of June, and they hoped that they would have permits in hand by now. The lease is signed; they are waiting on the landlord to file. So the goal post was Labor Day, but now maybe pushed back?? — Tribeca Citizen on Cafe Clementine finds a new Tribeca home on Greenwich and Duane
There is NO Mansion on Wall Street that I can think of. The only empty spaces that could possibly work as a venue for this type of event, would be the old Bank of New York and former home of the Museum of American Finance at 48 Wall and the old JP Morgan Branch at 23 Wall, but neither would qualify as a Mansion. 70 Broad, on the other hand could fit the bill, but I have another option. The Down-Town Association Building at 60 Pine. It is a (kind of) mansion and they have thrown many a theme party there in the past. I think this may be the spot. — Luis Vazquez (FiDi Fan Page) on Where on Wall Street? Spooky cocktail soiree coming this fall
Our building was thinking of putting large planters in front, large enough to hold certain kinds of pottable trees. I've seen massive planters on some streets in the area, but we have to find out about the city codes or permits/regulations that might apply — Marcus on The Anatomy of a Block: Chambers between Broadway and Church

NYC is famous for regenerating itself. There will be new stores, new businesses, but it won't happen overnight. As long as NYC is not filled with too many ill-informed (I'd say ignorant, but why bother to state the obvious) inhabitants UNwilling to be vaccinated, then relief/recovery is on the way! — Ben on The Anatomy of a Block: Chambers between Broadway and Church
Marcus: So now you know why no more trees: end of story. Can't plant a tree over a street vault and for good reason. — Ben on The Anatomy of a Block: Chambers between Broadway and Church
Count me as another vote in favor of Archie Bunker's infamous retort to all those (if there's even more than one) objecting: STIFLE YOURSELF! Or failing that, move to suburbia and feel free to roll up the sidewalk at 9:30. On other hand, I doubt any on those objecting will ever see any of these comments and with a little luck: IT WON'T MATTER! — Ben on Marc Forgione will leave Reade and move to Hudson
Any news on when Clementine will open? Doesn't seem like there has been much movement. Thanks! — kl on Cafe Clementine finds a new Tribeca home on Greenwich and Duane
Personally I love seeing people “rolling” down the street. Reminds me I live in NYC and not some suburb. — TG on Marc Forgione will leave Reade and move to Hudson
Sounds like a great plan for them. Excited to see what the future brings. On an unrelated note, the new hotel at 456 Greenwich has removed construction netting and revealed the Greenwich St-facing facade. It’s a stunning addition to that area—the brickwork came out beautifully. — person on Racines will reinvent itself in the fall
Love this and can’t wait for them to open! — Lori on Estancia 460 will expand next door with a more casual bar
Just got email that Racines will close. Last day of service will be Friday July 30th. Sad to see Pascaline, Diego, Jarrod and team go. — Karl on The Anatomy of a Block: Chambers between Broadway and Church
I have no inside information, but 70 Broad seems like the most likely option. Also known as the American Bank Note Company building, this "mansion" is five stories and always has a "For Lease" sign outside. While technically not on Wall St, in is mere blocks away and within sight of the NYSE. — Joe on Where on Wall Street? Spooky cocktail soiree coming this fall
