  • So happy to hear VCafe is back! — SW on Seen & Heard: Viet Café opens tomorrow

  • My son grew up pampered by Roya and delighted seeing her on stage. She predates my new husband but ended up doing a stellar performance for him in The American’s. Roya makes everyone feel important and uses her electric grace to make The a Odeon a place where you can arrive in a bad mood and leave feeling like a VIP. She is also not too hard on the eyes. We love you Roya! — Laura Day on TCQ&A: Roya Shanks

  • Roya, what a beautiful description of your experience at the Odeon! You have made me so welcomed there for decades with your wonderful charming manner, fantastic dresses and friendly professionalism.... and helping me to retrieve my forgotten items after a lovely meal and a couple of drinks. You are the best! — Audrey Matlock on TCQ&A: Roya Shanks

  • The HBO show likes this neighborhood (wonder why). In the first season the Greg character, who's portrayed as sort of hapless, trying to partake of the life the others consider their birthright, is tossed an apartment his wealthy relatives consider a throw-away. That apartment is a high-floor corner apartment in the Ban-refurbished "Cast Iron House" on B'way and Franklin. — David G. Imber on In the News: Succession sale

  • Sounds great, but hopefully it’s more well-rounded than your typical steakhouse (like Wolfgang’s and American Cut, each a mere block away). Even the ferocious carnivores among us can’t eat like that more than a handful of times per year. It needs variety so that locals can frequent it. That’s why Tribeca Grill is so great. Also, I know JGV is doing a seafood market in Seaport along with their restaurant. It’d be *amazing* if they had a butcher here somehow. That’s sorely needed in this part of town. — person on Seen & Heard: Tour the Pier 26 tide deck

  • They have something even bigger in front of the Citi HQ on Greenwich too. — H on Happy Monday! Citi Bike gets a flower flash

  • Palace of beef? Really? Am I going to get sued by Jean Georges for this comment? — Tribeca Citizen on Seen & Heard: Tour the Pier 26 tide deck

  • Caught up with a friend who works with JGV. While still in development, it looks like the new restaurant is going to be a giant palais de boeuf. Think of a steak house on steroids. JGV will have the seafood palace over in the Seaport and then the steak and meat kingdom here in Tribeca - "bookends" as my friend calls it. But, going to be steak JGV style and over the top cool. — Armaund on Seen & Heard: Tour the Pier 26 tide deck

  • Phew, saw that this morning and was afraid it was because someone had died. Thanks for sharing — BT on Happy Monday! Citi Bike gets a flower flash

  • I was unaware that the owner painted over history. 359 Broadway is outstanding. As recently as 15 years ago, the pyramidal skylight was intact which illuminated the daguerreian studio. — Wayne Burkey on Municipal Archives is collecting neighborhood oral histories

  • What a gift Roya is to the community. She is half the reason to go to the Odeon! — chiara coletti on TCQ&A: Roya Shanks

  • Thanks for the article. Roya is the epitome of grace, beauty and competence. I've been coming to The Odeon since my first child was a baby (she's about to turn 40!). I don't know what I or this neighborhood would do without it. — Ellen Novack on TCQ&A: Roya Shanks

  • I was wondering what building they were filming that episode in. I knew it was somewhere around here. Quite the stunner. — j. on In the News: Succession sale

  • I am so grateful for the proliferation of galleries. It's fascinating to see the ever-changing exhibits, whether just walking by and seeing the works through windows, or dropping in for a closer week. Also, it's a real positive for the neighborhood, since as a result we have relatively few vacant storefronts, compared to some other streets and neighborhoods. If not for the galleries, what businesses would be taking these large expensive spaces? We would probably have a lot of vacant ground-floor commercial spaces. To the gallery owners, staff, and artists: Welcome to the neighborhood! — Marcus on In the News: Boulud taking over Augustine
