Agreed, it's infuriating and deplorable that Cuomo would take away any of the open space in Rockefeller Park. There has got to be a better place to put this monument, but don't even think about touching Battery Park. The Cabrini statue, on the other hand, is very moving and well sited without taking up much space. I love that Mother Cabrini and the two children in the paper boat are sailing into the wind towards the Statue of Liberty. Cuomo's plan to install a monument on the site of a children's play area. This may happen today and a stop work order is ESSENTIAL and needs to happen fast.   There was no ZERO (0) public input for this project. None! This is a neighborhood with comparatively little green space. While the monument itself seems to be a heartfelt gesture honoring essential workers, the secretive way it has been handled and the misguided siting has been undemocratic.
