Dr. Berg was amazing in every way, so it's sad to see it end this way. It looked like Dr. Mohr, another great vet, was going to take over the practice, but alas it went to Ivy and it was obvious from the first visit that it would end this way. I vote YES for the Warren Street Hotel to add 2900 square feet of space. Since the hotel opened I feel safer walking on Warren Street. Guests of the hotel do eat some meals at nearby restaurants. 1. Tribeca also has the least amount of affordable supermarkets, restaurants, clothing stores, etc. in all of New York. Why is adding affordable housing to such a neighborhood sensible for people with incomes such that they need affordable housing, i.e., housing with rents based on a certain citywide wage level? 2. "Should" is a judgemental, weasel word. If one's argument relies on should, one has lost the argument. 3. Did 105 Duane 80/20 leases expire because the associated tax benefits granted in exchange to the owner also expired? If so, the City got what it paid for. Given the costs of land, materials, labor, which are all inflated by demand and excessive regulation, who is going to pay to build affordable housing without economic incentives? 4. A glut of luxury apartments means lower rents, unless NYC has repealed the laws of supply and demand, right? If you look at the photo, this manhole cover is solid and not vented to allow gases to escape before exploding. From a 2019 NY Times article: "Rock salt on icy streets can cause mayhem below them[.] "When rock salt melts ice, and the water seeps down manholes and into electrical units, it can set off fires and explosions strong enough to pop a 300-pound manhole cover five stories into the air. "For days after a storm, Con Edison officials say, they often deal with scores of electrical fires caused by the rock salt eating away at electrical cable insulation. The wet salt can create sparking that burns the insulation, producing both fire and gases that can combust and pop the manhole lids. Dear Tribeca Citizen, Providing ICE parking is clearly Hudson River Park Trust 'engaging in enforcement' with the goons who many citizens consider domestic terrorists. The Trust also allowed its Very Important Person Heliport in the park at W.30th St to be used on Jan 3 by those same goons to dump a kidnapped head of state on the park's tarmac. Based on the Trust's history of secret deals, we cannot believe HRPT will actually cancel the ICE contract. In the Board's own words: "The Board does not entertain comments or questions from the Public". ever. In 2007, a NY Supreme CT decision against the Trust mandated Wealth's toxic heliport's closure by 2014. (The main plaintiff was the former activist Friends of Hudson River Park!) The Trust ignored that deadline and sent Madelyn Wils to crush the settlement in Albany without the Advisory Council's consent. It's important to note the HRPT does not clearly state that it will not renew the ICE contract, only that it 'does not intend to'. This is typical of the (very few) semi-public statements that HRPT deigns to share. Probably penned by Risa Heller's PR firm that prides itself in 'storytelling'. This current Pier 40 issue, the Maduro kidnapping, and 26 yrs of HRTP corruption beginning with the its first Chair Ortenzio should be the incentive for re-writing the Hudson River Park Act to form a truly Public park, not a Development Corporation run by the C-Suite of HRPF. — jim on Hudson River Park aiming to shed its ICE parking spots
