I agree with Tom. I am so sick of the cutesy acronym NIMBY that is supposed to stop all discussion of an issue and shame people that don't agree with them about what is right for their community. The building is obviously too tall for a lowrise historic district as it was zoned. It will permanently destroy the seaport district. Shame on the Seaport Museum. They should be in the frontlines opposing this debacle and help preserve the Seaport. Find funding elsewhere for the museum! I just read elsewhere that the two new possible sites are 1) the grassy trees area right near to the Irish Memorial and 2) the volleyball court next to the harbor. There were a lot of surveyors out this am at both spots as well as at the shady tree area on the other side of the harbor. I agree with you but it won’t satisfy Cuomo’s ego. Now that I think of it, the one possible space is ironically the one that was foisted on us after 9/11, by former governor Pataki. According to his thinking, that wide walkway along Little West Street that he insisted on (locals wanted a playground or something more lively; I don’t remember the details) would be used by masses of tourists to walk from Battery Park to the Trade Center memorial, which hasn’t happened. Locals called it “Patakistan” because it was so deserted. I am sad to just be hearing about this! I haven’t visit NY in 2yrs but decided to finally come back for the 4th. I purposely chose a hotel in the Financial District just to have breakfast there and I am beyond hurt to hear that this place has closed. I have shared memories with friends and business partners at this location and i brought my mom with me to share this restaurant with her and it’s closed!! I have gone to several restaurants and have ordered a Chai Tea Latte and NO ONE makes it like Aroma, NO ONE!
