  • No line to vote today (Sunday) at 10am — VA on Early voting now requiring less of a time commitment

  • Nice attempt to create a racially motivated killing when it does not exist. The victim in the Queen’s deli shooting (Tarwala) was an Indian national staying in the US on a student visa. Despite his Jewish name, Steve Cohen is actually a Jehova’s Witness. His church/kingdom pastor has been out speaking to his mental incapacity. But, hey, why let facts get in the way of your allegations? The motive in the Min Ai murder/suicide seems to be a jealous estranged husband. Very tragic. — Whitney on Battery Park City resident shot by husband on Greenwich Street

  • Hallo, I certainly can sympathize with your retirement and wish you all the best. It was good to know you were coming to the market in Park Slope and I will miss you!! Whenever I bought from you I was sure it was good fresh fish!!!!! I will miss you and your fish. But I still owe you $ 4.00. I bought a lot of fish today to freeze it for the winter but I was short $ 4 at the end. I was unable to come back in time to give you the money. Please let me know where I can sen it to you! All the very best to you!!!!!!! Irmgard Borner — Irmgard Borner on Alex Villani of Blue Moon Fish is retiring

  • This is extremely sad news. If she had any children that she took with her away from her estranged husband even more the tragic. — j. on Battery Park City resident shot by husband on Greenwich Street

  • 13 polling places south of Canal for Election Day ora measly two two early voting places for nine days are unacceptable. We need a no-excuse ballot with prepaid postage return envelope, voter information card-keychain tag & I Voted sticker mailed to EVERY registered New York voter, a 24-7 access dropbox in EVERY precinct & early voting from Sunday September 1 through Sunday November 3, 2024 (the next presidential election.) We also need automatic voter registration at age 16, the voting age lowered to 17 (if you can vote in the general election on or after your 18th birthday you should be allowed to vote in the primary at 17) & a semi-open primary (independents should be allowed to vote too.) — Election Reform Now on Early voting now requiring less of a time commitment

  • Wait - where is the outrage over this murder on here? I thought only homeless shelter residents did this or so all of you mostly white people on here always crow. You run your NIMBY mouths about the men who live at the Radisson Hotel and yet none of them murdered this woman. But you keep scapegoating them if it makes you feel better. Oh wait it was a dude from Canada (possibly originally from China or somewhere else from Asia originally from his name) who probably wasn't homeless so you're all silent. Like you are about the homeless white Jew named Steve Cohen who killed a Muslim grocery store clerk in Queens a few days ago so a possible hate crime (reported by AMNY.) If it was a black or Latino man especially a homeless one you'd all be up in arms over this. My heartfelt condolences to the families of Min Ai & the grocery clerk Mohmediyan Tarwala. May their respective murderers Xin Yu & Steve Cohen spend the rest of their miserable lives in prison. Let them live with what they did and no freedom or escape. — NIMBY Pimby on Battery Park City resident shot by husband on Greenwich Street

  • 19 1/2 Leonard Street. They put on this great display every hear! Happy Halloween, regards, Sonia S. — SONIA STOCK on Where in Tribeca: Halloween Edition

  • Ward III closing is sad, any business closing these days is sad, for sure. But, as a resident of Reade Street, I have to say that they've been a an absolutely terrible neighbor through the Covid reopening. Almost every morning after they've been open, I find broken glass, food, trash all over the street. Actually just this morning there were piles of mussel shells all down the street as well as broken glass. Over the summer, we would have to cross the street to the other side because of all the broken glass and my kids being in sandals. I'm sorry they are closing. I'm sorry to lose another neighborhood staple, but they haven't been the best neighbor through all this. — Reade st resident on Last call at Ward III

  • Yesterday at 10:30AM (polls opened at 10AM) the line was intimidating! It snaked all the way to Macdougal. I never stood still in line though, because it kept moving! 20-25 minutes later I departed the building with my super cool sticker. My spouse went today around 9am and reported a similar experience. PRO TIPS: I second what Lisa said above, bring your voting card to make it a little more efficient - they will scan it instead of looking you up in the system. There are tons of poll workers there to keep things moving (it was a lot better organized than the PS234 site ever is) and if you need help or cannot stand in line for a health-related reason, one of them will direct you to the elevator and to expedite your entry. — Jolene on Early voting now requiring less of a time commitment

  • Left NBPC at 12:55pm in an uber, voted, and was back in NBPC at 1:30pm today. Line moved very quickly. — SG on Early voting now requiring less of a time commitment

  • Went to St Anthony’s today at 9:15 am...stepped out of the Uber and walked right inside – no line whatsoever. My wife and I were in & out of the building within 10 minutes. Recommend anyone who’s considering it to vote today while the weather is miserable and the lines are nonexistent. — Steven on Early voting now requiring less of a time commitment

  • Thanks for reminding us about the keyfob barcode — Richard on Early voting now requiring less of a time commitment

  • The line this morning was long but moved (which was nice given the weather conditions!). I arrived at 6:50, polls opened at 7 and I was out by 7:35. If you bring your fast pass bar code, it expedites the time inside. — Lisa on Early voting now requiring less of a time commitment

  • My son and I voted yesterday (Thursday) at 1:30 pm and there was no line. We were in and out in less than 10 minutes. — Laura on Early voting now requiring less of a time commitment

  • * Clarification - the LYFT 50% off code is only valid on election day - 11/3 — KL on Early voting has started!

  • Are you ever going to give up that this space can only be used for a supermarket? Ever? Exercise is a good thing for elderly and weight-challenged tenants. — Paul on Citi Bike is expanding in all sorts of directions

  • Right, the space a new supermarket should be in but won't because IPN's owner Vornado Realty wants as many non-market rent tenants to move out as possible. They love having elderly tenants walk all the way to Whole Foods & Target to grocery shop iwhen they don't want to be gouged by Morgan's Market. They figure by not bringing in a supermarket grocery expenses will be higher for the non-market rate tenants thus x amount of them will move out due to the increased expense. And you laud the opening of this elitist "club." What a waste of space. — New club? on Citi Bike is expanding in all sorts of directions

  • Thank you to all of you who left updates on the polling site at St. Anthony's. I've been discouraged with long lines for early voting but when I read Kevin's comment about re: Thursday, 10/29, I jumped into a Lyft ( there is a 50% off code for heading to the voting polls) at 2:00 PM this afternoon (10/29) and like what Kevin mentioned, NO LINES and NO WAIT at all! I was in-and- out about 10 minutes. — KL on Early voting has started!

  • Wow. I have to go see her. Gorgeous powerful sculpture. — j. on Art in Tribeca: Medusa gets her man

  • i was simply stating my direct experience. the goods and the not so goods where there is room for future improvement. and, it really shook me having a poll worker single me out and literally scream at me numerous times after i had cast my ballot. i had done nothing wrong. i know the stress is high working there but it was very inappropriate. in hindsight, i wonder if it was because i was wearing a biden/harris tote bag. who knows. but i have been waiting 4 long years to vote, and i am thrilled to have cast my ballot. now we all wait. fingers crossed. — j. on Early voting has started!

  • I hope sweet Cafe Clementine finds new home very soon. Their note in window definitely tugs at the heart. — j. on Seen & Heard: “We miss making soup and cookies”

  • Excuse me? I'm not whining. I have a right to criticize the state for their system & have said what should be done to make it better which it would be. I haven"t once got on the pollworker ok? You won't put words in my mouth. We should have what New Jersey has as follows: - A no-excuse ballot with postage paid return envelope mailed to EVERY registered New York voter - A 24-7 access dropbox in every voting precinct - Early voting beginning the third Saturday of September through two days before Election Day. No one should have to spend even one hour on line to vote. Yes nice gestures by people but it should be out of genuine niceness not cuz people are on lines for hours & during a deadly pandemic. Sorry not sorry I think NY is far behind NJ et.al. with voting & NY should've done a much better job with it. We should have a semi-open primary like NJ has, too. — Election Reform Now on Early voting has started!

  • Similar to Kevin, I went to St Anthoy's about an hour ago. I was prepared for a 3 hour wait, but there was no line and was waved in immediately! In and out in 10 minutes. Lots of people volunteering along the way. Great process overall. — Alison on Early voting has started!
