  • Sorry to see them go. Their short order breakfast was the best. Here's a Cardi B interview and photoshoot at Amish: https://www.thefader.com/2016/02/29/cardi-b-interview — Marsha on Amish Market will close permanently this month

  • They also deserve eternal thanks for allowing anyone in the neighborhood to charge devices on their generator, on the sidewalk, during the Sandy power outage. Same generator that kept them partially open - with calculators to tabulate purchases. — jfrankp on Amish Market will close permanently this month

  • They told me they weren't done yet... — Tribeca Citizen on Parts of Reade and Duane will close to traffic

  • We loved Tokyo Bay! Saddened beyond belief. Please find that “small place” in TriBeCa and tell us where so we can all come and support you! Damned be the landlords that are doing this to the community. — Alex Aliksanyan on Tonight is the last night for Tokyo Bay

  • Sadly it looks like Savida has emptied out. He couldn’t use the street curbside because of the adjacent construction which limited his number of tables to only a few on the sidewalk. And last time we dined there (mid August) he told us the landlord wasn’t budging on rent. Really sad. They were great — BobR on Parts of Reade and Duane will close to traffic

  • Interesting about Guerrilla gardening. In the 70's, it was more prevalent in East village, which has many community gardens. — TribecaMom on Seen & Heard: Blood Manor coming back

  • NYC is over No century21, no restaurants riots and Antifa and BLN Marxists in control, no trash pick ups, high taxes, corporations and rich fleeing Like a little bit of Cuba (after the commie takeover) on the Hudson — Juanita Sanchez on Seen & Heard: Lines out the door…

  • I feel terrible for the Hideaway. They couldn't fight the city bikes. Now the street closer will not happen. I hope they make it. — New York on Parts of Reade and Duane will close to traffic

  • It makes sense to open the Duane Park streets for pedestrians only (w/ local traffic) permanently given how few cars drive through that pretty, quiet, open area frequented by tons of people. Covid made the case stronger, as anyone who was here back in April/May can attest to when that area transformed into a much-needed socially distanced gathering place for people just to get some air after being quarantined. It's inexplicable why this hasn't been done. All that said, opening Duane and Reade in those locations is certainly welcome news. With respect to the Duane Park area, any word on Scalini Fedeli? And further down Duane, what's happening with Savida? They had a nice outdoor setup for a while, but it's been gone for a couple of weeks. — person on Parts of Reade and Duane will close to traffic

  • One piece of good news - DaClaudio got the ok to close Ann St seven days a week now as opposed to Friday through Sunday. So they can at least maximize their covers through the end of September when they can partially open inside, and then maintain both through the end of October. This weekend will be a test of people’s appetite for outdoor dining in cooler weather as it’s going to be very cool (upper 40’s) for the first time. — BobR on Parts of Reade and Duane will close to traffic

  • The backhoe has been busy all week, starting prompty at 7 AM. Perhaps they're just cleaning up and securing the site. — Gerald Forsburg on Seen & Heard: Lines out the door…

  • No, they are taking a break in construction for at least several months. They are nowhere near done on the foundation -- in fact they never even finished the pit. — Tribeca Citizen on Seen & Heard: Lines out the door…

  • Pile drivers were hauled off at 86 Warren (thankfully), but constuction continues - today, at least. Thinking they're ready to move onwards and upwards with above-ground-structure now. — Gerald Forsburg on Seen & Heard: Lines out the door…

  • From the time I met Andy and Peter in the diner where they worked on 7th Avenue and 15th St, I knew they were good men and would do well together. And since the time I met you on Saturdays at Gee Whiz when you were just 10 Y.O., I knew that with a father like Andy, you too would be a good man. Andy would keep me updated and proud of your progress until you passed your bar exam. You have big shoes to fill and a legacy to carry on, but I am more than confident that you will bring Tribeca Kitchen to fruition again. You have my support and that of this community. Please bring your children too on Saturdays when they are older so we can meet the coming generation and "Imagine" with them as well. — MANNY CABRERO on Open Letter: 9/11, the virus, my dad and his legacy

  • There were two ladies walking around the property inspecting the trees (there are some really big beautiful trees in there which you could see for the short time they had the cut out fence). I’m hoping whatever construction they do, they factor the trees in and maybe make it a nice green space around the building. That particular area could really use it. — Tracy on Seen & Heard: Bull balancing act

  • Thanks Andy Jr. Well said. Your father was very special to my family and me. I cannot help but smile and cry at the same time just reading what you wrote. We are on our way home and cannot wait for our next meal at TK! — Donna Sanquini on Open Letter: 9/11, the virus, my dad and his legacy

  • Just a thought. If they closed all the other Century 21 location and keep the Fulton street location open could help with the overhead cost. So sad to see it go. It was my go to since it opened at 7am. — Sandra on Century 21 will close all stores; declares bankruptcy

  • Hi Andy Jr., what a wonderful tribute to your dad Andy and Mr. Panayiotu his old partner. They were a big part and still live forever in our hearts of Tribeca. I can remember way back when I first moved down here 1992. my husband use to tell them to go next door which was a little new stand. They would pick up the newspaper and various things beside the food we order. Old School waiters! Your dad, Andy was kind hearted and always very welcoming to us and everyone in his diner. May his memory live on forever! God bless you and the family. We will continue to support Tribeca Kitchen and Gee Whiz which is a little piece of the original neighborhood which is disappearing each and every day. I pray we all make it through this very hard time. — New York on Open Letter: 9/11, the virus, my dad and his legacy

  • The cut-outs are gone and it's back to full planks again. Not sure why? — Jessica on Seen & Heard: Bull balancing act

  • Dear Andy Jr., Your father was a wonderful man: generous, ebullient, kind and hardworking. He was always good to the schoolchildren and teachers of P.S. 234 across the street and all the artists, actors, writers, and families of Tribeca. After 9/11, he and his partner Mr. Panayiotou at Gee Whiz fed the first responders and recovery workers at Ground Zero just a couple of blocks away. He then brightened dreary Church Street with his Tribeca's Kitchen and I was sorry that some people gave him so much trouble when he was trying to have a few outdoor tables -- ironic now. His only flaw is that he would run low on Black+White cookies. I know you at Tribeca's Kitchen and Chris Panayiotou at Gee Whiz [and let's not forget Teddy further north at the Square Diner] will remain the spiritual anchors of the neighborhood and keep the Black+Whites stocked! All good wishes, Joanna Molloy — Joanna Molloy on Open Letter: 9/11, the virus, my dad and his legacy
