Sad to hear. They had such a warm sign up during the shut down. I feel for all of these retailers. A good friend has a shoe line that was built online, but the pandemic also hindered and delayed production. So tough right now — PATRICK Valentino on Alumnae will close permanently this month
We've been going to Five & Dime for a happy hour drink weekly for a bit now! They have an amazing Aperol Spritz and such a nice area out front to enjoy. — Kristin on Seen & Heard: Mulberry & Vine is back open
yes, a lot of invaders are restored by enthusiasts as just getting some tiles is rather easy. anyone in possession of a legit street piece, say one that was taken down within hours of invader putting it up, is still pretty worthless. real collectors will not buy them as they are so easily forged. invader does create one additional piece for each street, they are called "aliases" and come with an official certificate of authenticity. These are the pieces that now fetch between 20 and 500k at auction depending on the image and size. the most rabid buyers are in asia as invader continues to set personal auction records in hong kong. this audience would never buy a street stolen piece, they are worthless( and usually very hard to get down intact) — invaded on Weekend Distance Activity: Find the Space Invaders (or what’s left of them)
Yes! Of course. Just added. — Tribeca Citizen on Dudley’s Paw, Wagging Tail, Petco and now AKC Canine Retreat
If it's any consolation, I have heard that one is not an original. That said, I agree with you. — Tribeca Citizen on Weekend Distance Activity: Find the Space Invaders (or what’s left of them)
How about Pup Culture on Hudson? That’s a terrific place! — Meg on Dudley’s Paw, Wagging Tail, Petco and now AKC Canine Retreat
I am a fan of space invader and take photos of these pieces whenever I see them. Today (7/15/20 around 2:30pm), I saw a woman and a man in their 20s, stealing the green one in the middle (between Worth and Hudson Street). I ask the woman why taking it out and she said because it's worth thousands of dollars. I told her I am a fan and they belong to the streets... and the man was filming me with his phone and the woman said "Well, I don't know how rich you are.... but you will be able to see this in a museum few years later". I had to walk away feeling sad.I hope these thieves learn to appreciate street arts someday. — JC on Weekend Distance Activity: Find the Space Invaders (or what’s left of them)
Just heard the very sad news about my buddy Andy. He was such a wonderful and friendly person. I wish miss him so much and will especially miss the big hugs he would always give me when I visited his restaurant. — Joseph Mannion on Andy Koutsoudakis Sr., owner of Tribeca’s Kitchen, dies from the coronavirus
Very few restaurants and businesses have updated their websites, I have found. I think it is one more cost they don't want to incur. Best is to check social media. — Tribeca Citizen on The latest openings around the neighborhood
Thanks, yes did the same. Appreciate the huge challenges the restaurant industry faces, still surprised some can’t just give a short update on their website and social channels (we remain closed, we’re reopening, etc). Hope these 2 open soon! — E on The latest openings around the neighborhood
The people of Tribeca need to open their lofts to these people. Pretend they are cute lost dogs and help them survive! Thanks much. — Bob on A homeless encampment on Franklin and frustrated neighbors
So as long as they are respectful it's okay to "live in the area"? Attention all homeless people: just be respectful and they'll let you camp on their streets! Pass the word! — GoodGod on A homeless encampment on Franklin and frustrated neighbors
As for the NW corner of Hudson and Vestry, I believe you are referring to the completely harmless and gentle individual that has lived in and around that area for almost all of my 20 years here. He may have a lot of "stuff" but it is hardly an encampment. He is neat, polite, enjoys reading and is grateful for neighbors who give him books and newspapers. I think we need to make a distinction between what seems to be happening on Franklin and our other neighbors who may not have a permanent physical structure to call home here. — Remington on A homeless encampment on Franklin and frustrated neighbors
Dogs welcome. Cats so not welcome. Parrots and guinea pigs - case by case. — Jim Smithers on Seen & Heard: The Roxy now has an outdoor plaza

What about a TASTE of TRIBECA JUBILEE in and around Duane Park (every weekend?) where all Tribeca restaurants can serve limited menus in Duane Park with music, kissing booths with Jim Smithers, etc.? It doesn't benefit PS 234, it just benefits the restaurants, servers, etc. Overly-tipping is appreciated. — Jim Smithers on Seen & Heard: The Roxy now has an outdoor plaza
I think we all know that our local businesses are fighting for survival. If we want them to have a chance, I think we ought to be more tolerant of minor inconveniences, like a bit of noise and tables and chairs on the sidewalk and street, etc. for the time being. These guys are trying to get some cash flow with outdoor dining, and this source of revenue will likely be gone when it gets too cold to do this. I really think we ought to check our fussiness at the door because none of us will be happy with a restaurant wasteland in Tribeca on the other side. — SW on Seen & Heard: The Roxy now has an outdoor plaza
Thanks for the reality check, James. — SW on Seen & Heard: The Roxy now has an outdoor plaza
I was so happy to see that Tiny's is able to have space. They're good people who work there with great food! Personally I like the outdoor dining so long as it shuts down at 11 or 12am, and there is no music. I don't know what's going to happen when it gets too cold - tented spaces? Is that any safer than indoor? — DeeDee on Seen & Heard: The Roxy now has an outdoor plaza
As of January they were no longer operating the restaurant, and as of now they are not listing NYC on their website, but I will confirm... — Tribeca Citizen on The latest openings around the neighborhood
Considering their clientele seemed to be wealthy tourists, I'm not sure they have a viable path forward at this time. Their restaurant was pretty good the two times we ate there, but I never once bought anything from the actual store despite going in pretty frequently. — DB on The latest openings around the neighborhood
This homeless situation is certainly not getting ANY BETTER now with the City Hall encampment... seriously this needs to be dealt with... I obviously feel bad for them, but this is a risk for them AND for our community. I was verbally attacked by one who was drunk while walking my dogs, i ignored it because it was just verbally , but what if it was something worse? — Richard on A homeless encampment on Franklin and frustrated neighbors

Basketball is back on in BPC today, at least, at Rockefeller, with the re-installment of the rims & nets. 20 players among three separate games. Two had masks. — J Frank P on Coming this week: Return of the Fields
This encampment has been there for months. There was also a pretty large one on the northwest corner of Hudson and Vestry last time I went by there. That's been around for a long time too. — person on A homeless encampment on Franklin and frustrated neighbors
