When I saw Sammy outside PS 234 it made my day!!! Alas, I CitiBike...gets me thinking yes? — TG on New Kid (literally) on the Block: GothamFix
Well said. In an era of high taxes in nyc and tight budgets, why raise our taxes even more (not yet acted on but where else to get $20B) for something that the public itself does not view as high priority. This is the mayor taking on a pet project with no public mandate and perhaps getting some side deals as part of it. — John on White Street jail’s getting smaller, but never small enough
I voluntarily volunteer to break any unattended/attended strollers - to keep Sammy busy. Please leave them outside away from security cameras. And no thanks is needed, happy to help. — Jim Smithers on New Kid (literally) on the Block: GothamFix
I'm probably one of the few people that really likes Amazon and will continue using it until something better comes along. With that said, they can simply refuse to do business with contractors that pull stuff like this. Using the streets to sort your packages? Come on. — lowphat on Seen & Heard: Open house events for kids on the Lilac
I don't think the delivery is "Amazon" although they are delivering for Amazon. There were articles in the spring about how Amazon was encouraging employees to start small delivery businesses. I think that's what we are seeing. People start a business, rent a truck, pick up at Amazon in New Jersey, park somewhere in the neighborhood and deliver the packages. Amazon thus has no responsibility for what they do since they are just contractors. — Ellen on Seen & Heard: Open house events for kids on the Lilac
Neither is 30 Warren — TribecaSnob on In the News: A hunt for the perfect $2M apartment
Completely agree on Amazon. I have also seen them set up their warehouse on a sidewalk on Hudson & Leonard. I am trying to wean myself off of Amazon to support local retail and in protest at some of their practices. For instance I can't believe that the Amazon Fresh shoppers at Whole Foods are instructed to use silver bubble envelopes for packing groceries. — B on Seen & Heard: Open house events for kids on the Lilac
As a long time patron of Gotham I am thrilled and I hope we can keep Sammy busy enough to stay. The neighborhood needs a friendly local bike service. Thanks Sammy. — Ellen on New Kid (literally) on the Block: GothamFix
so when the construction starts, will the DOC and NYPD triple park on centre st just to make traffic even more unbearable? — bob on White Street jail’s getting smaller, but never small enough
This is a small but significant concession. The good news is this shows that all the protest and activism is having some effect. "There is still not clarity either on how they will reform the prison system by closing Rikers." Exactly. There's the $20billion question. What does closing Rikers have to do with reforming the system, or reducing the prison population? Seems to me: very little or nothing. Those goals could be pursued at Rikers or anywhere else. The disaster will be that we may find, after years of construction and relocation, that nothing changes except the address, and taxpayers out of that $20billion, plus all the negatives that we already know (construction mess, congestion, neighborhood issues, etc.). This whole plan and project seem rushed through without enough research and consideration. — Marcus on White Street jail’s getting smaller, but never small enough
First Best Market and now this! My two places! I am so sad. I feel like everything in the neighborhood is closing! ???? — Demi on Maison Kayser on Harrison is closed

Did Dr. Mommatazapoolza break your stroller?! — Jim Smithers on New Kid (literally) on the Block: GothamFix
I walked up with a broken stroller and asked if he could help fix it. He jumped in with no hesitations and 20 minutes later it was fixed. He was great and Id definitely recommend it. — Joe on New Kid (literally) on the Block: GothamFix
When I posted about the scaffolding coming down last June, I did some research and was able to find out that the Clock and thermometer are absolutely being repaired and restored. It is the last piece of the restoration project on this magnificent building. I heard that it would be completed in 2020. — Luis Vazquez (FiDi Fan Page) on Nosy Neighbor: Will the sun come out on the Sun Building clocks?
This guy’s a sociopath and ass, but why park on the street if you have a nice car? If you can afford 4 cars or whatever and a Porsche, just leave it the lot. — Cd on Crimes and misdemeanors on Vestry Street
Beautiful building. I do hope they save and refurbish the clocks.... "it shines for all"! — Marcus on Nosy Neighbor: Will the sun come out on the Sun Building clocks?
I've been a fan of Lorraine's since her early curly days in SoHo - she is the mane maven!! Thrilled to have her back downtown with her amazing associate Ed, who does killer color (and is equally fabulous ;)). — Thalia on Curly haired women unite: Lorraine Massey opens on W. Broadway

The jail protest was really uplifting. Given all the problems in nyc that need money (homeless shelters, subway system, health care), why divert funds to something like new jails? — John on Seen & Heard: Alec Baldwin caught in Statue ferry scam
