Absolutely gutted! I lived in France for 10 years and this was the closest I found in NYC to an authentic, all butter croissant. Life was good again. Walking into the bakery put a smile on my face every time. Can't think of anywhere else that has the same effect. Roger, you really are a master of your art. Some would be happy to let someone else run the bakery while you sit back and reap the rewards rather than sell up. Would a drop in quality be the trade-off? When the Harlem project was completed I recall the preservationist cadre getting all blue in the face, calling it a "monolith" and an eyesore, and whining about how it didn't fit the neighborhood vernacular. As a dog lover, I think that giving your dog pot is unconscionable. Separately, while we are on the topic, I wanted to remind people DO NOT BRING YOUR DOGS INTO RESTAURANTS. The health department is now really cracking down on restaurants where dogs are visitors. You night have noticed an increase in B ratings and Grade Pendings across the city recently. The health department is often noting that dog visits will cause restauranst to lose their A ratings and subjecting restaurants to very large fines. They are co ng 8n an demanding t look at video footage of ttye restaurant. If dogs have been present, the restaurant gets in trouble. It is not fair to restaurant owners who have enough struggles staying afloat to now risk massive fines becuase others cannot obey simple rules. I worked for this owner for a long time. He worked hard for tribeca Taphouse and it’s employees. He always put his staff first, was involved in the community, and had a balanced home life. There may have been some money issues at the end but sustaining a restaurant is not an easy task. Unfortunately mom and pop restaurants have been choked out of Manhattan. Cant wait to see a restaurant group giant come into Tribeca that will only care about margins. Hold your head high Nick, you gave it your all and made an impact on many lives.
