Although my kids have outgrown the park it is a blessing to the entire community. It is what makes this neighborhood home. Saving grace for this failing business. This is the ONLY place I ever got up and left in TriBeCa. Poorly trained or rude staff, inaccurate draft list (always 30-50% of beers were out). Can't even comment on the food because after 1 hr 20 min we got up and left waiting for sandwiches and salads. Just got a chance to go to Archive wine. And I left in less than 5 minutes.where as I did not expect it to be inexpensive as was blown away at HOW expensive they are. On many common liquors they were 100% higher than the rest of the hood. Good point. In NE PA, dikes and levees were built along the Susquehanna River in some towns. Other towns resisted. Something is not clear to me in regards to flood protections. If they prevent water from going into one place, does it not go into another? If they build flood protections (the Big U) around Lower Manhattan and it ends at the north end of Battery Park City, what happens north of Chambers? According to the flood map, the area around Franklin, North Moore and White will basically become an inlet. We know this from Hurricane Sandy. Doesn't the design of the Big U exacerbate that? Further, If water doesn't flood into the subway tunnel, will the excess not be taken up in basements and subbasements? Washington Market Park should consider closing off the lawn during the fall and winter to save the grass. Fall aeration and top seeding would be much cheaper than the annual re-sodding that goes on every spring (only to close off the newly sodded grass to the public just as the weather turns nice). Speaking of West St. accidents, does anyone know what happened to Sherman Harrison, the guy who drove 100 mph up West St., caused an accident that incinerated another driver, then casually hopped out of his car and walked his dog up Hubert St. This was in late December and I witnessed the aftermath — and I remember it every time I pass by. The drunk driver is solely responsible for the carnage. There was even a safety agent on duty helping people cross the intersection, and he too was hit by the drunk driver. Details from the BPC Broadsheet: "Friday evening, around 10:00 pm, an alleged drunk driver turned from Murray Street on West Street, and struck two pedestrians. One was Travis Frank-Martain, a safety agent, employed by Goldman Sachs, to escort people through the congested intersection. The car hit him with enough force to throw him into the air, but he escaped with minor injuries. Less fortunate was Sarah Chan, whom Mr. Frank-Martain had helped through the intersection seconds earlier. She was struck with sufficient force to sever her left foot. Both Mr. Frank-Martain and Ms. Chan were taken by ambulance to Bellevue Hospital, where doctors had to amputate her leg, below the knee.
