I am sorry but I must correct you Mr Guerra. The menus and strategy at Harold’s has changed at least 3X. I understand you have hired Keith to consult with your restaurant and bar concept. I am not a consultant, just a customer, and I can tell you the reason why you don’t see me as a repeat customer: the decor and the ever changing staff. It’s not the food or drinks that need changing. — Mrs M on In the News: Harold’s Is No Longer a “Meat and Three”
Hello Mrs M, This will be the first time we have made any changes to our concept since the opening in 2016. As for our menu please allow me to explain in a bit more detail on how we are moving away from the southern charm of comfort food on our menu which consisted of much more protein rich dishes and sides. To adding much more lighter fair and seasonal options that you would not have been on our menu before. Yes we have kept a couple of our top sellers on the menu for our loyal customers to be able to keep their favorites while giving a variety of new and different options that will appeal to all. We would love for to come in and try our new Menu. Also we have a great new cocktail and wine program that I am sure you would love. Sincerely, — Gene Guerra on In the News: Harold’s Is No Longer a “Meat and Three”
Re: "She's not racist. We're not racist people." This is pretty much the definition of racism. And don't be surprised about this. You don't need to wear hood and carry a torch to be racist. Nor is wealth or education an elixir. It happens every day, in ways little and big, in your neighborhood. I have heard Tribecans lament about how scared they were during black lives matters protests downtown. (Try being black - a hell of a lot scarier.) My husband was stopped by security numerous times when picking up our child at pre-school, as other men walked right past him. Our child has shared the xenophobic and racist sentiments from children as young as 4. No child is born racist. Where do you think they learn it? If you really want to be an ally, you need to call your friends out. At the holiday party. In the park. Over coffee. As important: share with your children that all people are equal and deserve to be treated fairly, regardless of skin color, religion, gender, sexual orientation. If you think that children shouldn't be bothered with this, that's straight up white privilege. If your child were black, s/he would know what discrimination is before starting school. So it's never too early, and yes, there is an age appropriate way to talk about it. Last, but not least, a good portion of Tribecans are in seats of power. They move money, they hire, they broker deals. So let that sink in. — Even in Tribeca? Why, yes. on In the News: Tribeca Nanny Fired Because of Race
I wish they would make Pier 26 all fields..With all the kids down here and pier 40 in jeopardy, our kids need to have more fields. Having our kid travel to Randell Island or marine park is crazy. And I think if they made it all fields they would be able to raise $$$. This is what the community really needs.. — toni on In the News: Tribeca Nanny Fired Because of Race
The witch married to the rich guy needs to get her face out of her butt and realize this is 2018 not 1918. Look around this city and nannies come in all shapes, sizes, ages and races. Her behavior and attitude is disgusting. — Sarah Ross on In the News: Tribeca Nanny Fired Because of Race
The biggest threat to parks is development. Governor's Island is no exception to this. — Heide Fasnacht on In the News: Harold’s Is No Longer a “Meat and Three”
Nice catch on the great Governors Island article. Agree with your reaction, although it might turn out alright. The one proposal that sounds horrendous is the notion of a convention center. I loved that a redlight district was once proposed - New York Dolls could have built a mega-branch! — Jim on In the News: Harold’s Is No Longer a “Meat and Three”
I don’t know, I’ve seen the Harold space go through at least three iterations and it’s never been right. Hot dogs on the menu is not the answer for this space, and how is that healthy BTW? — Mrs M on In the News: Harold’s Is No Longer a “Meat and Three”

I read 5 newspapers and magazines a day, plus 5 blogs, 2 of which deal with healthcare and 3 with lifestyle, design and real estate. TribecaCitizen is the lifestyle blog and, as such, a welcome distraction and escape into the insular, often absurd, local netherworld in which I live. — A. on In the News: A 12-Year-Old Got Mugged
Love to have breakfast at Greca on the weekends--hope it isn't going away and that the Greca Live/ANA Greca is just a change for the evening hours? More information would be great as you find it out! — Tribeca Teacher on Seen & Heard: Change Is Afoot at Greca
I hope that TG's comment was actually a satirical, tongue-in-cheek comment. Failing that... Do you know that a good number of these placards are fictitious, or counterfeit or meaningless unauthorized placards distributed by municipal unions with no force of law? By definition that is not a perk of the job when these permits are not lawful (or are used to park unlawfully). Furthermore people who are supposed to enforce the law but break the law publicly and flagrantly only show their contempt for the law. They undermine their department's authority to enforce the law. — James on Seen & Heard: Tasteless Advertising at Razzledazzle
Erik’s perspective is as editor and should be respected. Also maybe many folks use this site as a welcome diversion and source of information that is different than what they get from other media sources. I do. — Jj on In the News: A 12-Year-Old Got Mugged
Thought GRECA was always meant to be a lounge with late evening music etc. Love the place now during the day but did feel that the evening dining options were very limited. Sounds like this will help finish the picture. Very happy to have them in our immediate neighborhood — Rohin on Seen & Heard: Change Is Afoot at Greca
Shame shame shame on the condo board members! Like many who have written wonderful things about Andy and his staff at Tribeca’s Kitchen, me and my husband eat there on a daily basis! We feel like family when we are greeted and fed like family! We also enjoyed the outdoor seating while it lasted! It gave us an option! There are many restaurants in the sea why can’t Andy have that option? Who is he hurting by having tables outside, if anything he is bringing more business to the area! And as a business owner myself in TriBeCa I support local Businesses! I hope the condon board members change their decision! Team Andy!! — Gabby Lar on In the News: Condo Board Screws Over Restaurant
Your rather bleak statement shocks this reader Erik. You might be right - I hope you aren't though. Come on people; what do you care about? Think about it. Ask yourself. — TG on In the News: A 12-Year-Old Got Mugged
Who cares if NYPD supporting staff have placards? What is this obsession? I hate all the huge Land Rovers in the neighborhood whose drivers go too fast, can't park very well and buy vehicles are bad for the environment but so what? I say let the city employees, NYPD and FDNY have the placards - it is a perk of the job. As long as there is plenty of room for emergency vehicles, delivery trucks and maintenance and construction - who cares? And stop with the 311 hysteria. Geez. — TG on Seen & Heard: Tasteless Advertising at Razzledazzle
So, Happy is one of our favorite shows. Gritty and dark urban fantasy. Just one season so far, so I am thrilled that they are filming another one! — Lynda Lippin on Seen & Heard: Blood Manor Is in Tribeca This Year
I liked Greca. The breakfasts especially were light and delicious. I worked there in the mornings, as did a number of other people, until they told us that they didn’t want that. So I have t been back. — J on Seen & Heard: Change Is Afoot at Greca
right on! lifestyle-y stuff is immediate; what statement Tshirt to wear while waking down the street, texting. (Polar bears and flood victims can worry about the Global etc.) — robert janz on In the News: A 12-Year-Old Got Mugged

What a welcome sight to see Urban Umbrella. Great lighting, see through, safe and aesthetically more pleasing than the alternative. Good luck wth Scaffold Law reform. Any alternative to the green wood monsters we see everywhere in the city is welcome, but costs the landlords/owners additional money, so true reform is unlikely. I hope Urban Umbrella spreads like wildfire. — Marc on Seen & Heard: Blood Manor Is in Tribeca This Year
Another way to think of it is that people care about what's happening near them, and not the big-picture subjects that journalists think they should care about. And that goes for any neighborhood. — Erik Torkells on In the News: A 12-Year-Old Got Mugged
