What a welcome sight to see Urban Umbrella. Great lighting, see through, safe and aesthetically more pleasing than the alternative. Good luck wth Scaffold Law reform. Any alternative to the green wood monsters we see everywhere in the city is welcome, but costs the landlords/owners additional money, so true reform is unlikely. I hope Urban Umbrella spreads like wildfire. — Marc on Seen & Heard: Blood Manor Is in Tribeca This Year
Another way to think of it is that people care about what's happening near them, and not the big-picture subjects that journalists think they should care about. And that goes for any neighborhood. — Erik Torkells on In the News: A 12-Year-Old Got Mugged
"If I’ve learned one thing in the nine years of doing this website, it’s that people don’t care nearly as much about transportation, politics, affordable housing, health care, education and climate change as they do about the generally lifestyle-y stuff that impacts them on a daily basis." That's pretty stark, Erik. You may be right, but it may also be that Tribeca Citizen's brand attracts readers who lean that way ... and/or that increasingly insular Tribeca leans that way as well. It'll be interesting to see how "The City" fares and whether it bears out your p-o-v. — Komanoff on In the News: A 12-Year-Old Got Mugged
Tribeca's Kitchen is great. Andy is such a kind and wonderful gentleman in so many different ways. I cannot image he was unresponsive to any reasonable request or complaint that the residents in the building may have had about this establishment. The actions taken by the board just seem to be hurtful and selfish. If there is another side to the story, I think we would all love to hear it. — Kacee on In the News: Condo Board Screws Over Restaurant
LPC is one of the worst agencies in NYC, inconsistent, erratic and in many cases unfathomable in their decisions. I hope their ruling can be reversed. Meanwhile, let's patronize and support Tribeca's Kitchen. — JS Miller on In the News: Condo Board Screws Over Restaurant
Brushstroke also wasn't very good. Maybe that is to blame as much as the rent?? Bouley lost his touch a while ago. — Fidus on In the News: A 12-Year-Old Got Mugged

There was not just anger, but I would say "rage", at the more recent Town Hall regarding the jail in Chinatown. People shouted down the speakers, chanted "no jail", called the speakers "racists", etc. This article shows photos of the calmer moments: http://thevillager.com/2018/09/20/no-jail-boos-drown-out-hearing-on-downtown-prison/ And here's a brief video of the festivities: https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=2&v=bpFezU4QMHc — Marcus on Seen & Heard: Blood Manor Is in Tribeca This Year
Dear Kurt, I´m very sad to hear this. During my next visit I wanted to show this great place to my better half, where I´ve spend some special time and where I gathered great work-experience, 10 years ago, during my trainee-time at KGNY. We will come to Wallsé to visit you. All the best. Anna — Anna on Blaue Gans Is Said to Be Closing
Poor Andy if this is the same Joeseph Augustine: Mr. Augustine represents the owners of a luxury condominium in Tribeca in their successful lawsuit and seven-figure settlement against the project’s developer, architect and construction team for various defects in the design and completion of the project. — Tribeca Mom on In the News: Condo Board Screws Over Restaurant
yes, i will miss blaue gans, too. we have had several memorable meals there. one thing that concerns me are the posters shellacked (is that the term?) to the walls of the restaurant. i believe they are left over from the le zinc days. many are of these are irreplaceable. i was impressed that kurt & team resisted removing them when they moved in. i hope whoever takes over the space manages to preserve them. — safe as milk on Blaue Gans Is Said to Be Closing

The parking on sidewalks is not only inconvenient to pedestrians (not to mention those on wheelchairs or with baby carriages, or delivery carts, etc.), but dangerous. There have been a couple sidewalk vault collapses recently (SoHo and TriBeCa) when vehicles drove up onto the sidewalk. — Marcus on Seen & Heard: Tasteless Advertising at Razzledazzle
Hi Tiffany, We are sad to leave too. We thank you for being loyal customer and your support over the years. Hope you will come visit us at our other restaurant Wallsé in the West Village. Best Regards, KG & BG Team — Kurt Gutenbrunner & Blaue Gans Team on Blaue Gans Is Said to Be Closing
Dear Sharon, It has been a pleasure to be your neighbor all these years and I thank you for your support and your kind words! Come visit me and enjoy my cooking at my other restaurant Wallsé. All the best, KG & BG team — Kurt Gutenbrunner & Blaue Gans Team on Blaue Gans Is Said to Be Closing
I feel the same as so many of the people who commented here. I go to Tribeca's Kitchen very often and it's always a great experience. Andy is a lovely man and the staff are all so caring. I thought the outdoor tables made the corner more attractive. I wonder if there is a way to resurrect this and have a different decision. — BL on In the News: Condo Board Screws Over Restaurant
I cannot wait to see the day when these condo board people who are so worried about their investment wish to sell but realize that their actions backfired. After all, who would want to pay astronomical prices to live in a deserted and depressing ghost town? Karma is a bitch. — Marian F. on In the News: Condo Board Screws Over Restaurant

So sad to see another business close. We love this place and if there is not a herculean effort to save the neighborhood we'll soon see Casper the Ghost's entire family, Duane Reades, banks and homeless people residing here. I have heard similar stories like this as well. I know of one guy who works at a retail store in Tribeca. His wife is a secretary at an NYPD building and he uses a placard from this. At the same time, delivery trucks have nowhere to load and unload as these spots are all taken by placards and so the delivery trucks just park in the street. This causes tremendous traffic buildup. It really is frustrating. — Josh on Seen & Heard: Tasteless Advertising at Razzledazzle
Feels like NYPD gives placard to just about anyone in the dept. Last week, ran into an acquaintance who works there as a photographer near the Tombs. Asked how the commute is since she lives out in Coney Island. The response was "I can park any where". I just can't believe how NYPD is abusing the placard system. — TribecaMom on Seen & Heard: Tasteless Advertising at Razzledazzle
