  • Thank you for the Guide! In TriBeCa, our favorite spot is Petrarca. Great Italian food, although a bit expensive (at least compared to what we are used to from the East Village; apparently these prices are normal for TriBeCa!). Always a consistently great meal there, fresh pastas are fantastic, service is excellent, atmosphere just right. Nearby favorite: Buddha Bodai on Mulberry. Vegan Asian. Have not had much luck finding good vegan options in TriBeCa. Any recommendations welcome! (Petrarca has some vegan pasta options, since even pastas are not necessarily vegan) Maybe adding "vegan" and/or "vegetarian" categories to the Restaurant Guide? Although I fear those may be empty menus at the moment...but might encourage an intrepid restauranteur to open a new veg place! — Marcus on Where Do You Like to Eat Around Here?

  • That's a shame. I always loved the ombre, and it was also not as space-confining as their other stores. — mruptight on Aesop Has Closed Its Tribeca Shop

  • "Possibly Church Street" (#23) is actually the east side of West Broadway above Duane. The store fronts are now occupied by Build Now, Calypso St. Barth (RIP), Tiny's, and Balloon Saloon. It has really cleaned up well! — Leo on Tribeca in the 1980s

  • I love the conversion of the Barnett Newman Triangle...Looks like it may function as a mini-park. • Me too. I left a year ago after 35 years in the 'hood. My breaking point: Ken and Barbie moved in across the street with their two perfect toddlers and two uniformed nannies. • It struck me as a relatively minor conversion, and the finished buildings aren't likely to look all that different from before—unless the plan is different from what we understand it to be. — Erik Torkells on The Next Wave of New Buildings in Tribeca

  • My question regarding the closing times of 6pm on Friday’s? Does this mean that the space wont be rented to a 3rd party for private catered events during those times. This has been a work around in the past for the industry. — Jon on More on the Plan for the American Flatbread Space

  • In 34 years of conducting business on Canal Street in Manhattan, Argo Electronics never had any consumer or police complain. Some corrections to the stories about me. I was the seaman for eight years. Most of my time I was sailing on the tanker ship from the port of Eilat to Cargo Island in Iran, and that was at the time of the Shah. Before I jumped ship I've been in New York many times. I switched from the tanker ship to container ship which was sailing this line Europe, North America, and far East. In one of these voyages when my ship arrived at the port Elizabeth in New Jersey, I took my suitcase, went down the gangway, and left the sea for the fish. Regarding my book about the orphanage, the name of the place is Ben Shemen, and that is exactly the name of the forest where kids were collecting mushrooms. The ammunition shells were collected in BAT-YAM. The flea market where the copper was sold is Yaffo. The book was translated into Japanese and the full version of it is on Google Play. My translator suggested sending the copy to Yoko Ono, which I did. In Ben Shemen were many famous people. One of them, Haim SaBan, the Power Ranger producer SaBan Entertainment. About 25 years ago I sent him a copy of my book hoping to make a movie out of it, but I never heard from him. Who knows maybe I will be more lucky with my next book which is about the salvage operation of a burning 250000-ton oil tanker ship in the Indian Ocean. I was one of the crew members who went with two other guys, in the stormy sea with the small lifeboat to save the burning ship from being an ecologic disaster. The name of my ship was Taurus and the one that we save was Aquarius. — Zdislav David Lasevski on Argo Electronics Has Closed
