  • Reality is that residents don't show up at the election sites and vote for local or even mid-term elections. Run the numbers, it's pathetically low. So we really can't complain if say, our Councilman doesn't perform. He was elected by those that actually did show up. — hmmm on String of car fires in the neighborhood

  • This is the silliest thing i have read in a long time. I bike thru all the time. No problems. — LENNY on Field Trip: Bike into Fire Island

  • Shame on Safe Haven!! Washington Street and Beekman right near two grade schools!!! South Street and Fulton Street have enough of these shelters for me that have a record. Sickening. Why not families in these places. We don't need more men that have mental illnesses , sex offenders. Safe haven is no good! — Native on Update on the shelter coming to 105 Washington

  • They have been there for about three years. Back then I asked someone inside and was told they were building access ramps for the handicapped. But why both sides? — C’est Moi on Nosy Neighbor: What is going on with the boxes at Citibank?

  • Bingo! exactly.. like what sense does it make to have a shelter in one of the most expensive neighborhoods of the city? and why do we have to cover the bill for this? — Richard on Update on the shelter coming to 105 Washington

  • ... but the city is going great they say... we really need better elected officials who actually enforce law and order. — Richard on String of car fires in the neighborhood

  • They have built a concrete staircase to the entrance out into the sidewalk. It was not part of the original structure and I cannot think of another building in the Financial District that has this. How did this get approved? — Bo on Update on the shelter coming to 105 Washington

  • If you are planning to use glue traps on your own trees, be sure you use he bird safe ones. Birds can get stuck on regular glue traps and will die. — Judith on Nosy Neighbor: What is being done about the spotted lantern flies?

  • Oh Anne, you clearly are not from Tribeca. You must forget how those OWS folks took over City Hall and destroyed the facade to the government buildings. I am sure you are all for protest, with your mask covering your face. You protest, I'll go there and protest you. Not for Lobby- Hobby, but for YOU to to not destroy our neighborhood. I rather have the Hobby Lobby out of vision way (tucked away in the old B&N spot) then have you and your OWS friends come physically destroy our neighborhood. And like other folks on this thread who are YOU and MARY to dictate what comes into this neighborhood. How dare YOU impose your ideals onto others, smly because you don't like then we have to obide to YOUR standards. Seems dictatorish to me. . Annnnnneee — Sandra on Hobby Lobby coming to Tribeca

  • I'm not grateful that 70,000 sq feet of garbage Made in China is moving in. Something more functional/useful/mass appeal/less niche in that space would have been a better choice and if the landlord weren't so greedy and maybe thought of the neighborhood rather than his wallet, we wouldn't be complaining. Also (FYI) not everyone has toddlers or is as kid centric as your comment implies, and even if we did have toddlers, 70,000 sq ft of craft crap isn't really needed, even in Tribeca. — hmm on Hobby Lobby coming to Tribeca

  • And you clearly haven't the slightest inkling of the rich culinary history of New York City. But hey, if you want to treat your tastebuds like urinal pucks, be my guest. — Alex in NYC on Domino’s on Church has closed permanently

  • I’m all for protests. Loved Occupy Wallstreet. and Black Lives Matter — meads people care what happens to others, the neighborhood and the world. (FWIW- there’s really no such thing as antifa) Hobby Lobby will hopefully wither and die on Greenwich - if it takes protests to remind people of their anti-woman, anti-gay stances - so be it. — Anne Baxter on Hobby Lobby coming to Tribeca

  • Welcome to the neighborhood! Sounds like a great addition. Will there be more than one floor of galleries then? Or upper floors will all be offices and storage? — Marcus on Marian Goodman Gallery will open in October

  • Please stop with the protest, we don't want ANTIFA movement down here. There is not more civil protest, there is only ananrchy and looting that comes with protesting. Here is the best way to protest, don't shop or spend your money there. Eventually they will have no business and leave/move out. No more protest, we don't want Tribeca to look like Union Square Park and then bring those Occupy Wall Street folks back. — Sandra on Hobby Lobby coming to Tribeca

  • All the comments complaining about their political views would rather a massive space in the neighborhood stays vacant? This is a great, cost effective, arts and crafts oriented option -- especially for kids. Who cares about their politics? Tribeca should be grateful for any tenant that can afford ridiculous rents. — Thomas on Hobby Lobby coming to Tribeca

  • True, but I stand by Little Italy (fka Donna Bella) or Little Italy on Park Place over Domino's. A pie is $20. — Tribeca Citizen on Domino’s on Church has closed permanently
