  • My husband and I are new to the Northeast and have enjoyed exploring different areas of NYC. We saw an outdoor menu, and decided to stop for a beer and appetizers. Really glad we did! The calamari was the best I have ever eaten, and the duck confit quesadillas were surprisingly good. Although I am not much of a beer drinker, I thoroughly enjoyed their pumpkin ale. Highly recommend this place! — Angie A on New Kid on the Block: Church Publick

  • I fear that Robin really doesn't get it. Her boutique collective (hilarious) has way too much light and way too much empty space. She really needs to take a field trip to the sister stores of the J Crew Liquor Store and Food Emporium - these are classic examples of the "Hoarder Look" that is the "New Retail." You need to pack your space with as much product and fixtures as you possibly can while leaving very little to no room for customers to maneuver or light to see what they're looking at. I hope her learning curve is not too steep. I hope, because where else will I get my creepy cat head pillows? Or maybe it's just for Halloween? — Jim Smithers on Pop-Up: Robin Brouillette + Tribeca Collective

  • I think it's more of a crime that John Street is referred to as stroller alley. @Miriam - please keep you distance from John Street, tipsters are tipping that strollers gangs have taken it over and don't look kindly upon outsiders. • This is horrifying, I feel for Peanut's family.. This could have been my dogs. B&B just told us last week that they had to transport my dogs to the west 13th location due to some technical issues at Tribeca spot. We thankfully canceled our appointment at the time and made another appointment since then (before I read this news) but I'm not sure if I ever want to go back now. Can someone recommend me a place to go for grooming? I honestly don't like most grooming places since my dogs hate going there and we had experiences with them coming back with blood on them. • You just described what she could have done and not what she did, which was blocking the entire front aisle with her perpendicularly parked stroller. The FE is a tight squeeze for everyone, but that's not a defense for being inconsiderate. I taught my children to be considerate, not to make excuses. — Miriam on Where in Tribeca…?

  • I always tried to observe stroller etiquette when my kids were in a stroller which was when there were a lot less strollers in Tribeca. In defense of the mom though, the checkout lanes in Food Emporium are not wide enough for most strollers and you have to put your items on the conveyor and then walk your stroller to the last checkout lane and walk around back to your lane to pay. Not to mention, all the goodies are stroller height at the checkout lines. — TribecaMom on Where in Tribeca…?

  • I don't know where this is, but I did see a classic TriBeCa moment tonight. This evening at the Food Emporium, a "lady" had parked her stroller (with a child inside) in the front aisle blocking almost the entire path while she was in the checkout lane checking out. A young man went to slide the stroller to the side so he could place his groceries on the checkout belt and the woman yelled, "Sir!, Sir!" as if the man was going to dump the child out of the stroller and run off with it. Luckily, he didn't. The "lady" was oblivious to the fact that she was inconveniencing everyone else by blocking the aisle and also blocking the checkout lane with her stroller. As you know, the Food Emporium only opens one or two of their 150 lanes. Erik, can you do a post on the lack of stroller etiquette? I know it's an invitation for a Smithers rant or two, but it is a bit ridiculous that people have such a lack of common courtesy or awareness of their surroundings when "with stroller." — Miriam on Where in Tribeca…?
