Canal Street driving is a disgrace. Speeding, red-light running, blocking the intersections, blocking the pedestrian walkways, gratuitous horn-honking, blasting music, etc. I've nearly been run over several times -- and I did have the "walk" signal. — Marcus on In the News: Man killed in hit-and-run on Canal Street

no one who lives here wants this monstrosity. Its very dangerous for 310 Greenwich Street and surrounding building. — Native on Seen & Heard: Community meeting for the proposed IPN tower
Yes, exactly! And all of that would generate income for the MTA and the city. Also enforce the traffic laws against all vehicles - cars, trucks, bikes, e-bikes, etc. The flagrant speeding, red-light running, and other unsafe driving are unacceptable and dangerous to all. A lot of the fare evasion happens when someone uses the gate or holds it open for lots of others. One start would be to re-alarm the gate, and of course to fine people who use the gate for fare evasion. — Marcus on Getting a handle on the congestion pricing timeline
Love both photos of her, and her-story! — Franklin Foodie on Joan Pantzer, the former showgirl who created what would become the Odeon, has died
Call me a dreamer, but this is my request..... If they are going to add yet another tax on New York City residents, can they please at least enforce all the other laws? Stop the rampant fare evasion on the subway, prosecute the drivers that have the blurred out license plates, and ticket the trucks that double park all over the city. It is only fair! — Elizabeth on Getting a handle on the congestion pricing timeline

yeah God forbid that anyone but the wealthy, get subsidies for luxury housing developments. we wouldnt want the working class, who performed the search, rescue, cleanup and rebuilding of the wtc site and paid the price with deaths and awful illnesses to be able to actually live in lower manhattan. — Joe on Getting a look at the future 5 World Trade Center

TC, Fantastic editorial that I'm just seeing now. We have been dining at Gigino for over 25 years and love it. I have treated all my family to it's Italian delights so many times. The food is amazing just like the staff. (I love the staff video,Bob & Patti). We are actually dining today for lunch/Pranzo with10 of our family from all over NYC. We are all looking forward to todays visit. I remember having such fun outside always at Gigino at Wagner Pk and we do miss that.Thankfully we have Greenwich St. We will be sure to celebrate 30 years in August at Gigino before we head to Calabria. There have been updates 2 WTC renderings from Foster, check this out: https://www.dezeen.com/2022/02/16/two-world-trade-center-leaked-images-foster-partners/ — Jonathan on Getting a look at the future 5 World Trade Center
I looooooove this salsa. It’s the kind that has the perfect heat and you can’t stop eating it! I usually buy three jars at a time! — Tropjeune on Made in Fidi: 212 Salsa
This is slightly incorrect. BIG is no longer the design architect of 2 WTC, and it seems Foster is back onboard, although updated renderings have not been released. Doesn't seem like there will be any progress anytime soon, which is a shame. The site feels really incomplete with just the foundations and beams sticking out of the ground. The beer garden and art can only help so much. — malcolm on Getting a look at the future 5 World Trade Center
5 WTC is 30% affordable, not 25%. That was changed last year. I highly recommend watching the first ~10 minutes of ESD's May 2023 board meeting where they explain in detail the enormous subsidies that would be required to attain higher levels of affordability: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ftoQpaBxnI4 And 2 WTC is reportedly back to a design by Foster, not the BIG design. https://newyorkyimby.com/2022/02/new-renderings-reveal-updated-design-for-norman-fosters-two-world-trade-center-in-financial-district.html — person on Getting a look at the future 5 World Trade Center
