I asked the manager? Owner? At Belle Reve recently if he was taking down the shed, he said ‘ It’s not until November! Don’t worry!’ Who’s worried? I don’t believe they are doing it until I see it! — R. on Old dining sheds should come down this summer
Here’s a very cheap, easy, fast way to add a new public park downtown: unlock those gates. There are actually already “litter receptacles” in place! Occasionally a group of skateboarders do this on Sunday afternoons, so it must be possible. Or - tear up the earth, mine and transport materials, damage nearby buildings and utilities, shutdown Thomas and Worth for another couple years, etc etc. For 79 apartments and a small shady alley city folk call a “park”? Probably more bang for your buck in say, Elizabeth St Garden… — Dave on New towers coming to Thomas and Worth streets?
Additionally, Christ Marte got his handful. There is a proposed shelter coming to 105 Washington St, just a mere 3 minutes walk from PS 150 in FiDi. Similar to the story about another proposed shelter near Spruce Street School. https://newyorkyimby.com/2023/06/renovation-work-progresses-at-105-washington-street-in-financial-district-manhattan.html — ChibecaMom on Demolition on White Street jail damages neighboring building
These city contracts need to be looked at and reviewed with critical eyes. 20% of city contracts are MWBE (minority women business enterprises). There should to be bench marks stated in the contract on how the demolition is progressing per health and safety standards. I think the onus is on the city agencies to monitor. With this current mayoral administration, I wouldn't be surprised if folks are getting kick backs from such contracts for political favors and turned a blind eye. The vendor for this jail demolition is the Gramercy Group. You can search how much they get paid by the City of New York here: https://www.checkbooknyc.com/ — ChibecaMom on Demolition on White Street jail damages neighboring building
It should be required for builders to put up people in surrounding buildings in hotels away but near by. There same should go for people that do elaborate and lengthy renovations in buildings already fully occupied, for frivilous reasons and make life hell for others. — R. on Demolition on White Street jail damages neighboring building

Let's see how well this is really enforced. I still think it makes more sense to widen sidewalks permanently, at least on any streets where this is feasible, and put the outdoor seating directly adjacent to the restaurant, not across the sidewalk. Then there would be no need for sheds at all. Restaurants could put retractable awnings over this seating adjacent to the restaurants, if desired. Tables and chairs can be put away at night. This also avoids the need for service to continuously cross the pedestrian sidewalk to get to the sheds out in the street. — Marcus on Old dining sheds should come down this summer
Can someone tell the people at Yves the sidewalk is for pedestrians and not for them to be making extra money? Their set up is so obtrusive on a rather busy pedestrian corner. — yves on Old dining sheds should come down this summer

Developers do this stuff all the time in NYC. Construction is shockingly poor and developers essentially commit fraud left and right. Folks don’t pay big attorney fees and file lawsuits over minor punch-list items. Quality construction from a developer does not exist in NYC at any price point. — FiDiGuy on Condo owners at 443 Greenwich have been suing developer for years
1. SPACE: really gorgeous, modern but warm, not too formal, floodlit during the day with its southwest exposure & (very) high ceilings. The bar with the combination of tainted mirror and windows gives it a wow factor. HUGE plus is that that tables are mostly well-spaced, so you don’t feel like you are talking to your neighbor. 2. FOOD: overall delicious, with the original flavors as you would experience them in Greece, nicely presented, all ingredients are high quality, no question about that. (Some flavors are a little diluted compared to the original, e.g the superb tarama that has a spot-on flavor, but just not enough of it!) 3. BAR: produces excellent cocktails overall (although the house version of the white negroni was a tad too sweet /too vermoothy for our taste). Selection of wines is thoughtful and a great match for the food. The Greek wines are really worth a try. 4. SERVICE: warm, friendly, attentive but still discreet / not overly solicitous. Just on point. 5. PRICES: Some feel on-point for quality, space, & location, e.g. many of the meze, or the generous portion of grilled prawns, or the NY Strip, or the sides. Others seem a little excessive, even for Tribeca, eg the two lamb chops for almost $60 (accounting for tax & service). Overall a really great experience and a lovely addition to the hood! Sorry for the 10-month delay in posting. Montrachet was my second home back in the late 80s and early 90s. The food was great, and the wines were wonderful, but Drew's friendliness and devotion to the place made it truly special for me.
