You mean the wine bar? When I covered it on March 3, it was poised to open. Needless to say that was tough first year... — Tribeca Citizen on Japanese bar Icca opening soon?
Really? is that the best design they could come up with? what a beautiful addition, it flows perfectly with all the new port-a-potty like design we have in the streets of tribeca for outdoor dinning. I love the idea of all that outdoor space that will stay forever on our streets after the pandemic is long gone. Why not use this opportunity to try and make our streets cleaner and a bit more beautiful. Downtown is dirty and disgusting. — Can't we do better??? on Bogardus Plaza will get a food/beverage kiosk
Speaking of 3 years in the works, What’s up with the sushi spot on Barclay near church? That also looks close? — Nyc on Japanese bar Icca opening soon?

HI Pam, Mickey is located on the Thomas Street side of the Western Union Building but since you took the photograph of Mickey it has been labeled 13,14, 15 in black paint on each of the circles, regards, Sonia S. — SONIA STOCK on Where in Tribeca?
As others have noted, a more ambitious larger plan would be welcome. There’s no reason for this much street surface in this area at all. — J on An effort to expand Duane Park is underway

Watched the first episode of "My Unorthodox Life" and spent most of the time trying to guess which building their three story apartment was in. It wold flash Tribeca and then the street would be in SoHo or Greenwich Village or Hudson Square. She is quite a character! — JS Miller on In the News: The last bank leaves Wall Street
Cuomo wants credit for everything he does so the monument needs to be on state controlled property. DeBlasio will not make it easy for Cuomo to get credit for anything which is why BPC is always the dumping ground for anything Cuomo can put his name on. — TribecaMom on Committee formed to site essential workers monument in BPC
Good. Makes for an engaging plaza. Brings more life back to the part of Tribeca that serves the office and working communities near us — Patrick on Bogardus Plaza will get a food/beverage kiosk
Yes, I know that, but so what? We don't want it here. It belongs somewhere more appropriate, like Flushing Meadows and they have lots of room there. The governor needs to go through the approval process to put it there and leave our remaining open spaces alone. — Luis Vazquez (FiDi Fan Page) on Committee formed to site essential workers monument in BPC
Thanks for the feedback so far! We are so grateful to have strong community support for this project. To volunteer, you can reach us here: info@duanepark.org — Friends of Duane Park on An effort to expand Duane Park is underway
Completely agree; there is barely any traffic on this stretch of Duane, and a larger format park / green space in this location would be a tremendous amenity for the neighborhood (and help soak up some of the increasingly monsoon-like rain that falls within the city). — Reader on Reade on An effort to expand Duane Park is underway

Oh no, just seeing this news of Scott’s passing. It feels unreal. Scott was such a cheerful presence in our neighborhood. Our dog Georgia would always run toward him, when our paths crossed. He always stop to say hello and catch up on current events. I would pass out Scott & Vivian’s number to every new dog owner I met. Vivian, our sincere condolences. Our hearts break for your loss. 🙏Prayers to Scott in Heaven. Let us know if you need a helping hand with anything. 💔 — Jacqui wenzel Jungkunst on Scott Geyer, local artist and dog walker, dies at 69

I saw yesterday that Tiny's was closed :( There is a permit for kitchen work on the door and I checked their website, says they'll be back in August. I worry when places close for renovations, it's often closing for good, but the permit gives me hope. — Kristin on Sushi of Gari is closed for renovations
I also think this is a great plan and would like to thank the people at the Friends of Duane Park for the work to get this going. They are a great organization and our neighborhood is lucky to have them. — Elizabeth on An effort to expand Duane Park is underway

They are there at taxpayer expense, presumably. Target apparently waits until shoplifters have amassed enough thefts to warrant felony charges. https://www.paypath.com/Small-Business/why-target-is-the-worst-store-to-shoplift-from " As it turns out, alongside their forensic team and top-of-the-line, in-store facial recognition technology, Target is known for actually letting shoplifters get away with their bounty...up until they reach the monetary threshold for a felony shoplifting charge. This means that while a Walmart LP will stop a shoplifter regardless of whether they're stealing a $5 DVD or a $500 dollar TV, Target might allow a shoplifter to steal 100 $5 DVDs over time, all while building up a massive, fool-proof felony case against them. And here's the craziest part––they organize these efforts across stores and even state-lines. Essentially, if you steal at any Target, anywhere in the country, they're quite possibly building up a case against you." — james on Nosy Neighbor: Why are there police cars and officers stationed at Target
This is old news. Deutsche Bank announced it was leaving long ago and when they went remote during the pandemic they simply never came back. This is actually great news as FiDi continues its transformation and diversification away from finance and more into TAMI tenants. The tower will be gut renovated, which it sorely needs after 30 years as a single tenant user and the hideous lobby will be transformed into a much more inviting public space. — Luis Vazquez (FiDi Fan Page) on In the News: The last bank leaves Wall Street
I'm all for this, but why not expand all the way North and just have one street for cars to either continue East on Duane or turn North on Hudson? This is a PRIME opportunity to create more public greenspace that isn't free parking for private property. Go big here as you won't have the opportunity again. — DB on An effort to expand Duane Park is underway
