Seen & Heard: A New Indian Restaurant?

1WTC••• 1 World Trade Center’s spire has been aglow lately.

••• Now this is a good idea, if you can’t drink tap water. (At Birdbath.)

••• Because the prospect of a mid-block restaurant in the heart of Tribeca is sure to cause consternation, I asked Community Board 1 if there was any available info about the applicants for 175 Franklin. The reply: “The application states that one of the principals has previously been licensed by the State Liquor Authority for Tulsi at 211 E. 46th Street. […] They have requested bar service until 10 p.m. S-Th and 2 a.m. F-Sa.” Tulsi is an Indian restaurant; could we be getting another one?

••• The door was propped open at Tutto il Giorno, the Italian restaurant opening on Franklin between Church and W. Broadway. Not opening soon.

••• From Community Board 1: Tomorrow’s FiDi/Seaport Committee meeting will include an update on FiDi construction by LMCCC Executive Director Joseph Simenic.

••• Checking in with 56 Leonard….

  1. 1WTC’s spire has been aglow for SuperBowl week. All last week the color alternated between Seahawks green and Broncos orange. During the game, it was red, white and blue and as soon as Seattle won, it switched to green.
I’m interested to see how long it will be lit, and what’s next.

  2. Tonight the Spire has been a beautiful Lavender! :-) Hopefully, the spire is now on for good. My question is when will the lights at the 20 story base be turned on?
