Seen & Heard: Lunch at the Greek

••• Starting today, the Greek is open for lunch: “We are starting off with a few tweaks on our dinner menu and as we are moving forward we will be adjusting and creating a unique lunch menu that will better serve your lunch needs and also be true to Greek authenticity and our dedication to quality.” There’s also a happy hour, with deals on drinks (including all-you-can-drink rosé for $20, which sounds like a dare) from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

••• I was surprised to see the magazine vitrine at the Smile Newsstand inside Shinola was gone. Turns out some new style of rack is on its way. Relatedish: I bought these pencils at Shinola for Adam, because he’s always asking if we have a sharpened pencil. But I’m not giving them up until they stop smelling so good.

••• I hear that the Hudson Food Hall (a sort of Epcot deli) will indeed be above Canal. Which is not Tribeca! Also, a rep for design firm Roman and Williams called to say that they had had one call with Bread & Butter and are in no way involved with the project, despite what Bread & Butter’s owner told the Commercial Observer.

••• I posted the answer to last week’s stumper of a Where in Tribeca…?

••• For those of us who enjoy April Fools’ Day: “American Flatbread Tribeca will be playing a little game with diners today for April Fools’ Day. Every table, lunch and dinner, gets a chance to pick a prize from a bag of tricks. The bag will have a host of goodies, including three winning prizes—a free small flatbread, draft beer or glass of wine—or you’ll be lucky enough to win one of the fabulous ‘April Fools’ prizes!”

••• City Hall Wine & Spirits put up signage in its new location (Church between Reade and Chambers) saying it’s opening May 1. Coincidentally, earlier yesterday, James and Karla Murray (photographers of the classic Store Front book) tweeted an oldie-but-goodie pic of Ralph’s, the discount store that used to be on Chambers. So I replied that they should shoot CHW&S while it’s still there—and they said they already had. So maybe it’s in the sequel? Also, let’s all keep an eye on the liquor store’s old location….

••• Two items of note added to April’s CB1 agendas:

—FiDi Committee (Apr. 2): “Boardwalk Empire/HBO filming on April 7 and 8 – Presentation by Michael Buonanno, Assistant Location Manager.” (They wouldn’t present unless it’s a big undertaking.)
—Tribeca Committee (Apr. 9): “225 N. Moore Street (boat docked at Pier 25), application for liquor license for Grand Banks LLLC [sic?]” (I don’t know if the drinking would be while docked or while out and about.)

••• Trunk shows this week to benefit the River Project: “Wednesday, April 2, at Bari Studios from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Introducing the VPL Workout Line and Current Spring Clothing, Ash + Ames Jewelry, Cindy Lew, Araks 2014 Bathing Suits and Six1Five Clothing and Bags. On Thursday, April 3, the same brands—as well as Castle & Hammock Loungewear and Jewelry By Matt—will be at 166 Duane from 9 a.m to 8 p.m.
