••• On Governors Island: “New tenants taking space include Spaceworks, a nonprofit that will begin renovations next year to create new artist studios in a 38,000-square-foot building. QC Terme, an Italian day-spa operator, will be the first commercial tenant. It plans to convert 80,000 square feet in three buildings into a full-service day spa. Work is scheduled to begin in 2016.” —Wall Street Journal

••• Franklin Place has topped out. “Broadway’s journey through the southern part of Tribeca has never been all that distinguished, marked by the hulking Federal Plaza at the bottom and PTAC-strewn rentals above. But the El Ad Group is about to change that, with a high-end condo building designed by ODA Architecture.”  New York YIMBY must not value anything that’s not shiny and new, because that includes the stunning 346 Broadway, the handsome 93 Worth (with its appealing topper), Cass Gilbert’s Broadway–Chambers Building, the abandoned beauty at Broadway and Reade, and countless others. Anyway, a reader sent over a photo of Franklin Place this morning. It’ll soon enough have a neighbor to the south (353-357 Broadway) that’s likely to be at least as tall.
