In the News: Business School Moving to Tribeca

••• The Architect’s Newspaper has a video about 5 Beekman and its condo tower at 115 Nassau, a.k.a. the Beekman. Two items of note: The X-brace floors midway up the tower house the mechanicals for both buildings (since there was no way to put them in 5 Beekman without messing with the building). And a rendering (right) in the video is much closer to what the building is actually looking like—i.e., far darker—compared to the rendering that was first released. Also, the two towers on the top of 5 Beekman will be hotel rooms.

••• Good news for local businesses: “The University of Rochester’s Simon Business School is moving downtown to Tribeca, where it will take space in an academic building owned and occupied by New York Law School. Both schools will be able to occupy 185 W. Broadway because Simon Business School’s programs are offered only on weekends, while New York Law School runs classes during the week and on weeknights.” —Crain’s
