In the News: Plein Sud vs. Food Cart

courtesy Eater

••• That food cart outside Plein Sud posted a sign that says they won’t be kicked around. (Eater)

••• Local politicians trying to get Park Row reopened. I can’t get behind this enough. If anyone out there can think of a way I can help, let me know. (Downtown Express)

••• I.S. 89 students protested school cuts. (Downtown Express)

••• Curbed notes a few alternative names for Hudson Square: NoHoTu, HoTunA, etc. I always called it West Soho, myself.

••• More on the possibility of the Peck Slip post office (left) becoming—or sharing space with—a school. (Downtown Express)

••• According to a New Yorker Talk of the Town piece, “wine dude” Gary Vaynerchuk is based in Tribeca. Good to know, I guess. But I’m still not sure why I read the whole item. Have you noticed how many Talk of the Town items seem to exist because the writer wanted to meet someone famous?

••• Speaking of Tribeca offices: The owner (?) of something called Luxury4play.com (!!!) posted photos of the company’s Tribeca “office.” It’s yours for $6 million.

••• That New York mag sandwich list is now available as a text list and a map.

••• New York magazine‘s profile of Paz de la Huerta—an actress who likes being provocative—says she’ll be moving to Tribeca, where her mother live. So if you see a half-naked woman walking around in search of a camera, you’ve been warned.

  1. Re Plein Sud and the Food Cart
I’m not on Plein Sud’s side per se, but I don’t like that cart – I am on the sidewalk’s side. I walk down Chambers every single day, and that cart takes up a lot of room, and if he has 2 or three people waiting, then it just makes it impossible to move in an already crowded situation.
