Foto Friday

This basket of bread at Takahachi Bakery made me laugh, because it's like the first thing you see as you walk in—but YOU CAN'T HAVE IT.

The Church Street side of the insurance building between Thomas and Duane seemed to have gotten all of the attention—there's a lot going on there—but I have a real soft spot for the sculpture (fresco?) that someone decided the white-brick façade to the south couldn't live without.

When I was done taking photos of that statue/fresco, I looked down—my pug was there somewhere—and I noticed that a pigeon (presumably) had danced all over a large swath of the sidewalk when it was still wet concrete. It's fantastic! And I was taking photos, a woman pushing a stroller walked by and said, "Isn't it fantastic?"

See what I mean?

I took enough of a women's studies class in college (two days) to know that Pamper Ur Pets' rubber chicken dressed up—and dolled up—like an exaggerated woman, with its arms removed, to be used as a dog toy.... It sends a message.

Really?

  1. Best Foto Friday! Quaker sells “Breakfast Cookies”…anything goes!

  2. I love the image “drawn” by the bird It is quite a self portrait. SO it is not just elephants and chimps who paint. Downtown EVERYONE is an artist. Why not?

  3. I really is the best! I feel like all of life’s deepest meanings are somewhere to be found amidst these photos. I just know it!

  4. I wonder how long Takahachi Bakery will stay in business. I love Japanese/Asian pastries and can appreciate Takahachi’s selection but who is really patronizing this place? The location is funky. I am not quite sure who they are targeting as their patrons.
