Seen & Heard: Sales and More Sales

••• Correction: When I wrote that the Odeon‘s ice-cream cart served a veritable half-pint for $4, I may have been misserved—because two days ago, I got a serving that was more along the lines of what $4 would buy elsewhere. (It was tasty: mint chip made with real mint.)

••• From Notify NYC: “The Port Authority of NY/NJ will be conducting an evacuation drill at the World Trade Center excavation site on Wednesday June 30th at approximately 9:15 p.m. You may hear a loud tone and verbal alert in the vicinity of the PATH Station and Mezzanine area at the time of the drill.”

••• YHK Department Store on Jay is having a sale: 30% off Longchamp. Also having sales: Stella, Tribeca Wine Merchants (“Our third-annual Fourth of July Fireworks Sale!  The wines offered below are some of the most sought after wines in the marketplace and they are priced to sell quickly), and Espasso, though it’s not clear how much or on what. If it’s significant, let me know because I loooooove that furniture. Oh, and this just in from Alycea Ungaro’s Real Pilates: “Psssst… online sale this weekend. On our website only!”

••• Chevy’s in Battery Park City is officially gone. Actually, it may have been for a while now. Can’t say it was at the top of my list.

••• On July 8, the restaurants in the WFC will be showcasing dishes for under $5.

••• Damn it! Not only do those bus bulbs appear not to be going anywhere, now they’re sprouting benches (right).

••• From Kula Yoga Project: “Are you a bodyworker looking for a beautiful space to work out of? Love Kula? Awesome!
Our treatment space is now being rented (hourly, half-days, full-days).
Receptive to all alternative healing arts whether it be acupuncture, massage therapy, thai massage, reiki, herbs, you name it!” Herbs?

••• A reminder that CsillaWear‘s party is tonight from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at 9 N. Moore. You gotta love the photo they sent out yesterday. I’m guessing that if I asked them to pose with me they’d get very busy real quickly.

  1. This is the second time that you advertised a Real Pilates discount on their website that isn’t on their website. I have tried multiple times, both on their website, and over the phone to buy a ten pack or even twenty-pack of reformer classes with the so-called discount only to be thwarted by it not being available as an option to purchase on their website. In addition, I’ve spoken to their staff three different times and no one HAS EVER gotten back to me after promising. Finally, even if I just walked in and purchased a ten pack at full cost I am not guaranteed space in a class. Weekday reformer Classes are always full. This is extremely frustrating to me.

You shouldn’t advertise for them anymore since you will only frustrate your readers.

  2. Maybe the staff hasn’t responded because the sale starts this weekend? (Although you’d still have reason to be frustrated….)
