Seen & Heard: Ace Hardware Closed

••• The word on the street is that the ACE Hardware store in 60 Hudson that was damaged in the recent fire isn’t going to reopen. I haven’t confirmed this with the owner because I’m having a hard time tracking down his contact info and no one at ACE corporate will call me back. If anyone knows how to reach him, please let me know.

••• Candi Works, a new store at 353 Canal (Wooster/Greene), opened last week. It has all sorts of candy—including candy cigarettes, which I bought two packs of—and an insane slushy machine.

••• Bubble Lounge is the deal of the day on both LivingSocial ($25 now for a $50 credit to be used all at once by Jan. 19; two days left to score the deal) and BuyWithMe ($25 now for a $50 credit to be used all at once by Jan. 16; six days left to score the deal).

••• Something called the Tribeca Supper Club is happening at Brick on July 25. Related: You may recall that Brick caught heat some months back for hosting events considerably less civilized than this one appears to be. Brick’s managing partner, John Ginty, commented about that on my recent CB1 Tribeca committee minutes.: “There is no mention of Bricks Liquor renewel . Brick was featured in a previouis story titled Brick behaving badly . Could we maybe have some coverage of the fact that there was not one complaint against our renewel .Also the fact that alot of the stuff that was said about us in that article hasd been proved to be a bad characterization We were not the problem a few months ago and we are not the problem now . We look forward to serving the Tribeca community . 914 882 7552 for any complaints.”
