••• A reader reports that he stopped by Duane Park restaurant on a recent Sunday night and none other than Jim Carrey got up to sing a little jazz. First Lady Gaga, now Jim Carrey. No clue what the third in that series would be….
••• Now that TAMA Gallery is closed—long live TAMA Studios!—the doctor’s office next door is taking the back lefthand side of the top floor, while a tea company is taking the front of the top floor for an office. The back right side and the lower level have yet to be rented. It sounds like a strange space, with an entrance on Staple. Maybe a restaurant?
••• If you have the hots for the hostess of a neighborhood restaurant, the feeling isn’t mutual: “Doctor Garrett is a good looking guy. He’s fit and works out. Muscular. He’s a doctor, too. He lives in Tribeca in one of those apartments that I only dream of someday renting. He can afford it because he’s a doctor. He’s 37 years old. He’s a doctor. Smart. Did I mention he’s a doctor? Doctor Garrett is also 100% obnoxious. And 100% my stalker.” There’s a lot more where that came from. (Confessions of an Ingenue)
••• Esprit Events Catering has opened a café at the Museum of Jewish Heritage. Expect “delicious meals and snacks for breakfast, lunch, and early dinners before public programs. Highlights of the menu include: made-to-order breakfast burritos, macaroni and cheese, hand-rolled sushi, soups and quiches, assorted paninis and entrée salads, freshly baked croissants, and café lattes and cappuccinos. All dishes are carefully prepared in accordance with Jewish dietary laws and certified Cholov Israel by the Orthodox Union. The café serves top quality dairy items.”
••• From Annika K. Martin: “Just thought I’d share this info about the Tribeca-based CSA I help run—our farm is having a Harvest Festival. The festival is open to the public and is a great way to see the farm where our CSA’s veggies come from, as well as spend a fun day in the countryside with fun activities for young and old. A bus will be leaving from Great Performances (Hudson/Vandam) for those who don’t have/rent a car. My CSA (Downtown CSA) is based in North Tribeca—our distribution point is the 92Y Tribeca on Hudson Street. Our summer veggie season is almost over, but we are offering a winter fruit share with fruit from Red Jacket Orchards. People can email me [csadowntown@gmail.com] for more info about getting on the list for next summer, or about signing up for fruit this winter.”
