Buried at the very end of today’s Wall Street Journal‘s article about the revised design for 87 Chambers—approved by the Landmarks Preservation Commission in mid-April—is that “the developer, Fishman Holdings North America, is considering abandoning the boutique hotel concept for a condo development.” This is the plot that goes through to 71 Reade, which fell down in spring of 2009, and abuts 77 Reade, which appears to be getting close to unveiling its storefronts. The initial design, also by Goldstein Hill & West, met resistance from the LPC, but the new version sailed through. The architects kindly sent over renderings of the new design. The first two are as the Chambers side; the second two are Reade.
