Seen & Heard: Rock ‘n’ Roll Posters

••• Artist Emek is having a book signing at Philip Williams Posters on May 26. Related: Father’s Day is June 19.

••• See ya, spring! At 9 a.m. on May 11, City Hall Park is hosting a tulip-bulb giveaway; BYO bag.

••• Frankly Wines now sells liquor, or “solace” as we call it in my house (in an homage to David Mitchell’s exquisite The Thousand Autumns of Jacob de Zoet): “Given the size of the shop, it shouldn’t be a huge surprise that our spirits selection is very, very well edited. We’ll  expand  it over time, but for our initial dip, we’ve tried to cover the necessities: ingredients for a Negroni (check), Fernet Branca (check), tequila that won’t rot your gut (check), fancy organic Swedish potato vodka in a really cool bottle (check.)”

••• Remember Ilegal Mezcal, which is based here? You can try it for yourself at Brandy Library: “Stephen Myers, founder of Ilegal Mezcal, will come celebrate Cinco de Mayo with us tomorrow, Thursday, May 5, 2011 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. This is a casual tasting, you do not need to make a reservation if you only intend to come for a taste of his great mezcals. Should you decide to stay for drinks, please give us a call and we’ll keep a table for you.”

••• I saw Kirsten Holly Smith sing from the Dusty Springfield songbook last night at Duane Park restaurant—she was quite good on her own merits (which is the only way to judge because no one can compare with Dusty). I’ll also be getting a tambourine for my birthday, if a certain person was paying attention. Think about it: When you’re feeling a little blue, you just pull out your tambourine, and voilà! Instant happiness.
