••• A couple of weeks ago, I noticed people working inside 73 Hudson, the space some of us remember as the furniture store called Xao Ping (At least I think that’s what it was called.) Xaoping. Well, the windows have been papered over, so something is definitely up. Know anything? Email me at tribecacitizen@gmail.com. (Thanks to Toni for correcting my misspelling!)
••• 137 Franklin, which has been a vacant lot for a while now, is finally getting developed (and it has a shiny new metal fence around it). Last we heard about it, the retro design for the new building—click that link to see it—had been sent back to the drawing board by Landmarks. I guess it got approved.
••• Starting tomorrow, Bari Studio is offering a fitness class for men, BariXY. There’s also a new class called BariDRIP, which sounds like a new product from Mr. Coffee.
••• Asphalt Green Battery Park City has added two more sessions of its outdoor camps (boot camp and running).
••• From the Lower Manhattan Construction Command Center: “With final paving completed this week on William Street between Fulton and John, the utility work is now officially concluded in that area for the new Fulton Street Transit Center entrance at 135 William Street. The new entrance is slated to open Monday, August 1. Elevators in that entrance will continue to be installed in time for a late-2011 opening.”
••• When I mentioned BMCC Tribeca Performing Arts Center’s upcoming Tribeca Meet & Greet, I neglected to say that it’s at 401 Broadway, 4th floor: “Everyone is welcome at the offices of NearSay.com on Thursday, August 4, any time between 6:30 and 9 PM. This is a free event—anyone with an interest in Lower Manhattan is welcome to attend. The food and drinks are free as well.”
••• 1 N. Moore, the new building at the northwest corner of N. Moore and W. Broadway, has begun its striptease (see below). Prudential Douglas Elliman has renderings of the finished building.
