Seen & Heard: New Taqueria

••• Shorties Deli Cafe on Church has been reinvented as Burro Borracho (drunk donkey) Taqueria. Shorties had recently gotten some good notices from Midtown Lunch, so I guess it’s running with it. The interior looks the same.

••• The Hideaway‘s special blue crab night starts up again on Monday, Feb. 27. I just realized that the Hideaway is named after the bar at Duke (where I went to school), which explains the Quin Snyder photo in the men’s room.

••• “W New York Downtown is heating things up this winter with an evening DJ series featuring some of New York’s most sought after DJs. Downtown After Dark presented by W Downtown and BMF Media Group will bring an impressive line-up of music talent to the hotel’s vibrant Living Room Bar offering breathtaking views of Lower Manhattan amidst New York City’s pulsating vibe.” I can’t remember the last time I was anywhere near New York City’s pulsating vibe. “Launched with international DJ duo Nina Sky on January 28 followed by sets by Jefferey Tonnesen, Mike Nouveau and Timo + Alan on February 4, the series continues February 18 with acclaimed DJ M.O.S. and will extend through the end of March with music talent including School of Seven Bells, The Knocks and The Jump Smokers.” I feel old.

••• “Asphalt Green Battery Park City is pleased to offer CPR and First Aid classes that are open to the public and available for a nominal fee.” Sixty bucks strikes me as more than nominal, but that’s me. The next one is March 3.
