Nam Reborn

Reader Janet Goldner commented yesterday that she had received a flyer in the mail for Nam, and that it’s now at 75 Baxter (north of Bayard). I went over, and at first I thought I was either lost or a trick was being pulled—75 Baxter houses several businesses, none of which were Nam. I went into the one that’s a restaurant, Geojax Downtown, and sure enough, “Nam Café” menus were on the counter. I was told that the restaurant—which left Reade because the rent increases were unbearable—is delivering to Tribeca (as you probably know if you got the menu—I didn’t), and the menu is the same except they’ve added three banh mi sandwiches because folks in Chinatown expect them. They’re offering dinner now, and lunch as of Monday. Seating will come soon, as will a new awning, and they’re hoping to one day move to a bigger space.

  1. We’ve ordered from them twice in the last week – found them on seamless and was thrilled (love the rolls). My favorite steamed bass is $18 on their menu now – the old ‘MP’ would always be double that. Must try the banh mi next – the chicken one sounds super safe.

  2. hmm, super safe food….
