Seen & Heard: 2Spaghi Is Open

••• 2Spaghi, the restaurant taking the place of Franklin Caffé Buon Giorno, has opened. From the press release: “2Spaghi’s menu features a wide array of classic Roman inspired dishes with a new age twist including the freshest and highest quality imported meats, wines and ingredients with commissary and catering capabilities offered. The restaurant boasts a warm, upbeat and inviting ambiance perfect for a classic business lunch, after work cocktails or dinner with your significant other with all meals prepared by authentic Italian Chef, Marco Costanzo.” The release says the name is pronounced “due spaghi,” but I think the better way to explain it is doo-ay spah-ghee. As you can see above, I took a photo of the menu posted outside. It also lists panini and a couple entrées.

••• Bubby’s has a “new baby cow” for spring. It better hope veal isn’t on the menu.

••• Thursday is Poem in Your Pocket Day, a big day at the Poets House: “We’re beginning the day with a great community breakfast and poetry ‘read-in’ at 8:30 a.m., (we’re expecting several politicians and community board members to be in attendance). This will be followed by our usual handing out of poems throughout the day at Poets House and the World Financial Center. Then in the evening will be a groundbreaking concert featuring dozens of third and sixth grade students from P.S. 89 and I.S. 289 who will take the stage to sing original songs and recite original poetry. The students will be joined by prominent poets from Poets House and professional musicians from the Knickerbocker Chamber Orchestra.”

••• Tomorrow (Wednesday) at 11 a.m., Act Up and Occupy Wall Street are having a demonstration in City Hall Park that includes a march down Broadway. Great, more yelling into microphones. (I spent Sunday with my head buried under a pillow while people screamed and ranted and sang about Jesus.) And don’t lecture me about what Act Up has achieved; that’s not my point. I just want some noise control so people three blocks away don’t have to listen if they don’t want to.
