Seen & Heard: Ice Cream Cones

••• Excellent news! Starting this Saturday at the Tribeca Family Festival, Tribeca Treats will offer SoCo Creamery ice cream by the scoop (cones or cups): “There will be six flavors a day to choose from, and, once we work out the kinks, we’ll also offer our cookie and brownie crumbs, caramel sauce, chocolate fondue, etc., as toppings! (SoCo is a family-owned micro-creamery located in the Berkshires.)” The ice cream fun goes through September.

••• An invitation from Paolo Meregalli (who is Italian and does not at all mean “precious” to be sarcastic): “We are planning on opening a Restaurant & Wine Experience in your neighborhood at 279 Church Street between Franklin and White Streets. We would love to invite you on site to meet with us check out the project and give us your precious feedback. The meeting will take place Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at 6:30 p.m. I hope to see you there.” Read more about his project, Mulino a Vino, here.

••• From Notify NYC: “Weather permitting, on 4/27/12 between 9:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m., NASA’s 747 Shuttle Carrier with space shuttle Enterprise mounted on top, will fly at low altitudes around the Statue of Liberty and the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum before landing at JFK Airport. It will also be accompanied by two T-38 aircraft serving as photo support.” Photo support!

••• Friday at 7 p.m. at Jack Hanley Gallery: “The Conspiracy of Beards is a 30-member a cappella male choir which performs exclusively the songs of […] Leonard Cohen.”

  1. Off-topic – Does anyone else hear the droning engine of the Fresh Direct truck parked on Thomas/Hudson? It’s been going on for HOURS!! Why does the Fresh Direct truck always use the Hudson/Worth/Thomas Streets as their centralized distribution center? Leaving their compressor running for HOURS! CB1 please do something!!

  2. My neighbor just told me it’s 60 Hudson’s exhaust fan! It’s so LOUD!!! But I still I have a problem with the Fresh Direct central hub! :)

  3. @Miriam: 60 Hudson was insanely loud yesterday evening — I had never heard it that loud before. I think I could hear it from inside Tamarind
