Seen & Heard: Secret Room Concert

••• Things are getting genteel over at Cosmopolitan Café: “Our guests and neighbors are cordially invited to a special concert ‘Les plus belles chansons courses corse,’ a unique guitar and vocal ensemble that features ancient chants from the island.” Not sure yet which island; will get back to you. Corsica. “It will take place in the secret room on Wednesday, May 2, at 7 p.m. Wine and cheese will be served.”

••• Cheers to councilmember Margaret Chin for introducing “a resolution in support of State legislation to prohibit sale of shark fin.” The other day, I was horrified to see shark-fin soup on the menu of Dim Sum Go Go.

••• The Five Boro Bike Tour—which really should have a hyphen after “Five”—is this Sunday. Expect street closures.

••• From the Municipal Art Society: “This Saturday and Sunday, May 5-6, thousands of New Yorkers will take to the streets to explore neighborhoods rich with history in honor of the late urban activist and beloved author Jane Jacobs. Jane’s Walk NYC, hosted by the Municipal Art Society, comprises almost 70 free neighborhood walks in all five boroughs hosted and led by local residents, urban enthusiasts and others who care deeply about their neighborhoods and city.” The schedule is here; local ones include Civic Center, Broadway below Canal, Battery Park City, and Brooklyn Bridge.
