Seen & Heard: Another Bubby’s

••• Tribeca Trib editor Carl Glassman has a new World Trade Center photo project, mirroredrisings.com.

••• Bubby’s opens another Tokyo location on June 25.

••• From reader Melissa Miller: “At the upcoming CB1 meeting on Wednesday [tomorrow], the agenda [now] includes the resolution for a proposed newsstand at the southeast corner of Chambers and Greenwich. The newsstand will only leave a nine foot clearance between the structure and 295 Greenwich and will create even more congestion to an already busy corner with visibility hindered by the ongoing construction and fences. […] Can you please encourage people to attend the meeting and oppose the newsstand. The meeting begins at 6pm and will take place at the Community Board #1 office at 49-51 Chambers Street, Room 709. Concerned residents can also write to CB1 Community Liaison Andrew Brokman at abrokman@cb.nyc.gov.”

••• Press release: “This summer, New York Classical Theatre is sending a love letter to its hometown with free outdoor performance of Shakespeare’s beloved classic ‘Twelfth Night,’ except this version will be set in New York City in the early 1900s. ‘Twelfth Night’ will be performed as a roving play in Battery Park from June 26–July 22. All shows are free.”

••• At Art in General: “On Thursday, June 14th from 6 to 9 pm, Per Schumann and Malte Zacharias’ mobile-kitchen-cart will take up temporary residence in Rob Carter’s living installation, Faith in A Seed. Cooking a meal inspired by the very plants growing in Carter’s triangular garden, Schumann and Zacharias will transform the gallery into an oasis where ideas and food can exchange freely. The event is free and open to the public. For more information about the event, please contact jon@artingeneral.org.”

  1. A newsstand on Chambers and Greenwich… Is it not crowded enough at that intersection? Let’s add another fruit stand and some entertainment to that corner as well. Who decides these locations?

  2. @Kacee: I think the vendor proposes the location. If you want to oppose it, the best thing you can do is attend the meeting (or at least email CB1).
