Loft Peeping: Loft Tour Preview #3

Loft Peeping is sponsored by onefinestay, a new service that books sophisticated travelers to stay in your home when you’re out of town. Answer these few short questions to find out how much you could make. And for more information about how it all works, click here, call 212-729-1985, or e-mail homes-nyc@onefinestay.com.

The 13th-annual Inside Tribeca Loft Tour, benefiting Friends of Duane Park, is Sunday, Oct. 14 (1–5 p.m.). Tickets are $60 at duanepark.org or $65 the day of, but don’t wait, because only 400 tickets are available, and the event tends to sell out. And there’s something new this year! “The tour has added an additional bonus loft viewing in the Financial District from 5–6 p.m., requiring a separate ‘Outside Tribeca Loft Ticket’ for $25 in advance, $30 day of with a limit of only 250 tickets.” It has a slide—and the owners don’t even have kids!—but I don’t think you’ll be able to try it out. P.S. The tour is looking for volunteers: Do a two-hour stint and you get a free ticket.

Friends of Duane Park lets the media preview four of the 10 apartments on the tour—it’s more of a bunch of open houses than a tour per se—and here’s the third. (The first was an eight-bedroom loft on Watts; the second, an old-school artist’s loft on Desbrosses.) It’s an elegant, 2,000-square-foot, two-bedroom on Hudson Street. The architect was Nancy Nienberg of Wunderground, while the interiors are by Damon Liss Design. I found it almost impossibly lovely.

We weren’t allowed to see more than the kitchen and dining/living area, but the bedrooms will be open for the tour. I’m running Damon Liss Design’s photos instead of mine, so you’ll have a better sense of the place. It was purchased in 2008, and it got a year-long gut renovation. Click to enlarge.
