Seen & Heard: Asphalt Green Protest?

••• Jamie Propp wrote a comment about taking some action: “I think that it is time to have a well-organized rally/march around Asphalt Green on North End Avenue (possibly to the BPCA offices). I mean one where kids and adults are carrying signs and we are making noise…. People in this community are so outraged that there is no transparent information about the opening of Asphalt Green and that we have been lied to over and over again. With the smoke screens and half-assed answers put forth through the Trib and TribecaCitizen, I think the only way to get the parties to come clean, so we can all know when we utilize these amazing facilities, would be to show our public outrage. If you think this is a good idea or are interested in joining me in making some real noise, post here or email me at jamie at jamiepropp.com.” I’m onboard.

••• Gee, thanks for the advance notice. From Notify NYC: “As part of the New York City Department of Transportation project to rehabilitate the Brooklyn Bridge ramps and approaches, a full closure of the Manhattan-bound lanes of the bridge will be required for two full weekends. From 11:59 PM Friday, October 5 to 6:00 AM Monday, October 8, and again from 11:59 PM Friday, October 12 to 6:00 AM Monday, October 15. During these two 54-hour closures, all Manhattan-bound traffic will be redirected to alternate crossings.”

••• From the LMCCC: N. Moore between Hudson and Greenwich will be closed Oct. 6-7 and 13-14. It was also closed today, or so I discovered when I tried to drive down it.

••• While I don’t normally eat passed hors d’oeuvres (a longstanding policy from having to attend too many work events), I couldn’t resist the ones being served at a lovely wedding last night. And they tasted even better than they looked! I asked one of the brides who the caterer was, and she said it was Olivier Cheng on Vestry.

••• If you haven’t been to the Loopy Doopy—the rooftop bar at the Conrad New York—tonight would be a good night to go. The bar closes for the season at the end of the month.

  1. I’m up for a protest! I’d also suggest contacting Albany, since Cuomo is the only person the BPCA feels they need to answer to. Next meeting is October 23.

  2. Asphalt Green; I am on board for the protest!!
