Seen & Heard: Sandy Small-Business Grants

••• The signage at Medivegetarranean restaurant Nish Nush (formerly known as Nish Noosh, or else the signmaker screwed up big time) has gone up. No word yet on whether the opening is imminent.

••• Downtown Alliance announced Sandy-related grants of “up to $20,000 to small businesses meeting the following requirements: Located in Flood Zone A, on the south side of Chambers Street and below; 50 or fewer employees; gross annual revenues of $5 million or less; open for at least a year (or have a 5-year lease); open at the time of application, or, for those located in buildings closed for storm-related reasons, scheduled to open by April 2013 (grants to be paid upon reopening); and, able to document loss and replacement costs not covered 100% by insurance or other reimbursement for property, equipment or inventory loss, or loss due to up to 10 days of street closures, lack of utility service or related conditions.” More info here.

••• I had lunch with Paulette Goto (who did one of the funniest TCQ&As) at Saleya today, and she told me all about her new gig: She’s the head judge on the Food Network’s “Sugar Dome,” which debuts this Sunday at 8 p.m. The show is about contestants who wrestle semi-nude in warm caramel. (I wish.)

••• Two updates from readers…. First, R. sent in a photo of the demo at 460 Washington, which is over. Second, John emailed a pic of 110 Hudson, reborn after five years of scaffolding.
