Seen & Heard: Los Americanos Opens This Week

••• The paper is off the windows at Los Americanos, the restaurant coming to the former Stuzzicheria/Pane Panelle space at the northeast corner of Church and Walker, and it looks great inside. It opens Thursday. And look, here’s a website with menus. There’s more on the place here.

MAD_cover••• Caitlin Freeman, Blue Bottle’s pastry chef, has a cookbook coming out April 16: Modern Art Desserts. The cover is pretty impressive.

••• Rally Downtown, a group aiming to get folks to eat and shop downtown, is hosting tastings/classes at Maslow 6 this Thursday (wine) and April 11 (whiskey); proceeds benefit Church Street School for Music and Art. Details here.

••• Go on, bust a rut this Tuesday! I’ll be spending my First-Time Tuesday at a new restaurant (not mentioning it by name because I prefer to be incognito). Below are four businesses offering special deals—the first three are good any Tuesday in April. In each case, you have to mention Tribeca Citizen and/or First-Time Tuesday, and to be safe, I always suggest printing this and bringing it. And send me a photo of you and your people enjoying whatever you decide to do! (If your business wants to offer something special, let me know.)
—Jerry’s Café: All specialty cocktails during happy hour (5 p.m.-7 p.m.) are $5.
—Churrascaria Tribeca: 20% off all food.
—Zutto: $3 draft beers.
—Torly Kid (Apr. 9 only): 25% off everything in the store.

••• Thanks to Elle for sending in this great photo of the gilded spire being placed atop the old New York Mercantile building at Hudson and Harrison.
