Seen & Heard: New Dog Run Opening Date

••• New projected opening date for the Tribeca dog run (and environs) in Hudson River Park: July 22. The fencing was delayed but it’s shipping now. (Thanks to KB for the reminder to ask about it.)

8 Jay Artflag 7813••• And thanks to C. for asking whether I ever heard more about the rumor that Bikram Yoga NYC is coming to the Artflag space at 8 Jay. I hadn’t, so I wandered by and asked. Bikram is one of (at least) two parties interested in that spot; negotiations are ongoing.

••• I just learned something very interesting about the old Mimi’s Café space (southeast corner of Church and Reade). More when I can share it….

••• The sign for the Bigger/Little Place has been painted over. Maybe more than a change of ownership is happening after all?

••• A reader whose apartment was burgled this past winter takes issue with characterizations that the thief doesn’t damage property. Check out this photo she sent of her gate: “He just ran through as if he didn’t see it (being dusk and his rush to exit, he probably did not).” Click it to enlarge it.

••• The BMCC Tribeca Performing Arts Center is stepping up its game in honor of its 30th anniversary year: “Aaron Neville, performing on Friday, November 15 […]. Also featured in the upcoming season are Kathy Mattea (March 29, $55-$35), Lisa Loeb (May 22, $55-$35), and Dar Williams (June 20, $55-$35).”

••• From the Lilac: “SITE95 is thrilled to present the third incarnation of ‘Dead in August,’ an exhibition and event series that uses available space in New York to create in-depth projects highlighting New York-based artists. This year, the exhibition and events of DiA will take place on the Lilac, a 1933 steam powered lighthouse tender, located on Pier 25, and at Independent Curators International, in Tribeca.” Who knew? “The exhibition on the LILAC will comprise site-specific installations by Peter Brock, Maureen Cavanaugh, Fort Makers, Myeongsoo Kim, Jordan Rathus, Colette Robbins, Chad Stayrook, Molly Surno, Naama Tsabar, and Byron Westbrook.” The kickoff is July 11; more info here and here.

  1. Thanks for the tease about Reade and Church. People l-o-v-e teasers. That, and blind items. Especially obsessive people. Makes my day. I mean my friend’s day.

  2. @David: But isn’t it nice to know something is coming? And I think of it as a way to get everyone out there to remind me to follow up in a few weeks (see the items about Bikram and the dog run)….

  3. How soon can you reveal about Mimi’s?
Crossing fingers that Bikram is indeed coming.

  4. @Kelly: That’s up to the tenant. Soon, I hope!

  5. Nish Noosh’s new vegan/juice bar place @Mimi’s?
