Exciting news via the Broadsheet: Brookfield Place is opening an outdoor ice rink on the plaza in front of the Winter Garden: “Brookfield and the operator are hoping to open the rink around Thanksgiving and keep it operating through mid-March of next year. No information is available yet about pricing, hours of operation, or the availability of support services, such as skate rentals, lessons, or a food concession.” The facility will be run by Brooklyn Sports and Entertainment.

Sure seems like a much better spot than Wagner Park (site of last year’s rink, below) or the Battery Park City ball fields (where the noise aggravated neighbors, above right).
