A reader tipped me off that Turkish jeweler Gurhan is opening his first U.S. boutique at 160 Franklin (next to Steven Alan Home Shop). He started out working in gold, but he now also uses platinum and silver, and his work is carried in major department stores and jewelry shops around the world. We’ll save the full profile for the New Kid on the Block post when the store opens (waiting to find out when that might be), but in the meantime his life story is worth a read, especially for the nightclub-owner phase—complete with shagadelic hairdo—and the behind-the-scenes love story. You’ll also want to know that Gurhan has a dog named Tipsy.
