In the News: A Toast to Shigure

••• The New York Times‘s drinking column—part of the Baby Boomer blog, somewhat amusingly—visits Shigure (as you should). So true: “If you have the Shazam music-identification app on your phone you’re probably going to use it.” Shigure has the best music in Tribeca.

••• And the Times‘s art critic checks out “Death of a Cameraman” at Apexart.

••• Downtown Lunch loves the smashed avocado toast at Bluestone Lane Coffee on Broad.

••• The chef at 27 Desbrosses Street is “prodigy chef Greg Grossman,” says Grub Street, “the East End kid who got to spend some time at Alinea when he was just 13. He’s now working on a number of projects in the city, where he’s since moved to advance his consulting group.” And someone from that group sent me the updated menu. Lots of quotation marks….

  1. It looks like a 13YO wrote this menu. They updated the font, but still forgot to run spellcheck.
