  1. One of the statues from the “Lightness of Being” exhibit at City Hall Park?

  2. @Andrea: No, but an intriguing guess….

  3. I don’t know where this is, but I did see a classic TriBeCa moment tonight. This evening at the Food Emporium, a “lady” had parked her stroller (with a child inside) in the front aisle blocking almost the entire path while she was in the checkout lane checking out. A young man went to slide the stroller to the side so he could place his groceries on the checkout belt and the woman yelled, “Sir!, Sir!” as if the man was going to dump the child out of the stroller and run off with it. Luckily, he didn’t. The “lady” was oblivious to the fact that she was inconveniencing everyone else by blocking the aisle and also blocking the checkout lane with her stroller. As you know, the Food Emporium only opens one or two of their 150 lanes. Erik, can you do a post on the lack of stroller etiquette? I know it’s an invitation for a Smithers rant or two, but it is a bit ridiculous that people have such a lack of common courtesy or awareness of their surroundings when “with stroller.”

  4. I always tried to observe stroller etiquette when my kids were in a stroller which was when there were a lot less strollers in Tribeca. In defense of the mom though, the checkout lanes in Food Emporium are not wide enough for most strollers and you have to put your items on the conveyor and then walk your stroller to the last checkout lane and walk around back to your lane to pay. Not to mention, all the goodies are stroller height at the checkout lines.

  5. You just described what she could have done and not what she did, which was blocking the entire front aisle with her perpendicularly parked stroller. The FE is a tight squeeze for everyone, but that’s not a defense for being inconsiderate. I taught my children to be considerate, not to make excuses.

  6. Is it the wall sculpture on the wall at chipotle? My. 2 year old and I were just talking about it!
