The End Is Near for Antarctica
Paging Jeremiah’s Vanishing New York…. The dive bar Antarctica—on Hudson, just below Spring—is closing January 4. “The landlord has bigger and better plans,” said the guy who answered the phone when I called to follow up on the rumor. Any chance it’ll reopen? “Not in this neighborhood,” he said. It wasn’t my thing but still, I’ll miss it.

Does anyone remember the bar called something like Antarctica or Ice Bar, which was at the corner of Canal and West? It was freezing inside and everything was painted ice blue?
