Saluggi’s Sandwich Shoppe, which opened in the summer of 2012 at the northeast corner of Church and Lispenard, has closed. It may have closed a while ago—I tend to walk by there in the morning, and I noticed at some point that the gates were down, but only recently did I pass by during lunchtime. The gates were still down, so I asked at Saluggi’s proper, which confirmed the news.

I always thought a fancier sandwich shop could do well there, given all the ad agency folks in nearby 32 Sixth Ave. Or maybe La Colombe should just open a second café, given the lines across the street.
